I think it's years of conditioning, pro-dairy belief system and strong social & cultural acceptance along with a collective ignorance or rather "collective misinformation of the crowd". So even if you dispel someone's ignorance, he or she can't overcome the force of collective social misinformation and established cultural practices. Uprooting of age old evil traditions and practices doesn't happen overnight. It will take some time and persistent efforts by social reformers.

So I don't think we are obsessed or addicted but we actually don't give a damn thought to this issue. The issue needs to be highlighted a lot to make it prominent, so that it's considered at priority by many.

Just shout out loud and louder until all other voices are silenced in comparison! This issue will surely get noticed by all. I'm hopeful.
