'MEGA' Potatoe Harvest!!
Hey everyone, sigh, this was far from a mega harvest, I planted sprouting potatoes in the middle of winter in a 'terratium' type unit I dug in the ground. I watered every 4th day odd and built them up as you should as they grow.
Month after month the green shoots grew I built them up and covered them, watering and nurturing as one should.
About two weeks ago I noticed the newly covered shoots did not come through the soil as they generally always did. So I got digging and sadly found only three really small half eaten spuds :( What happened? Moles I am told.
The next time I plant potatoes I will do so in tyres and put a grid on the bottom to prevent moles coming through. What I learnt from this is Potatoes can be grown in Winter just as long as you cover the leaves from the frost.
I trust you have an amazing week further.
Cheer$;)
Well now that you know it is time to move on to winter potatoes 2.0!
lol true that brother!
Can you use something other than tyres? Potatoes are great absorbers of toxins and tyres leach a lot of them.

Wow crazy that thought did not even cross my mind.. Great advise thanks a ton.. what else could one use do you think? Take care ;)
Good question, I guess it depends what you can get hold of. Maybe untreated timber, old containers/buckets. You'll be similar to us, climate wise, so in summer raised things will be hard to keep from cooking.
