Below, are two pretty good videos describing Venezuela. The Florida Maquis highlights the Venezuelan Constitution and some history leading up to today's attempted US coup:

The Gray Zone Project also enlightens us as we learn more about 'The Random Guy Named Juan,' who the US pedigreed and chose to become the Wizard of Oz to replace the democratically-elected leader of Venezuela, Nicholas Maduro.

The Wall Street Journal reported Juan Guaidó met with former CIA director, now Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo on January 10th, thus setting the table for the Trump Administration to support the January 23rd coup.

Who is Juan Guaidó?

  • Hailing from one a small populous areas of Venezuela, he has spent most of his nine-year career in the National Assembly as an alternate delegate, rather than a full delegate? In 2015 Guaidó came in second, winning only 26% of the votes but sufficient to become a full member of the National Assembly. Unknown by around 80% of the Venezuelan population, he never was elected to head the National Assembly.

He got the position only because it was the Popular Will Party's turn to assume the assembly's rotating leadership. This happened shortly before Maduro was sworn into office for his second term. Even with this consideration, Guaidó was fourth-in-line of his political party for the leadership succession. In essence, 'The Random Dude' was selected, not elected, for the Assembly position the US media highlights with such high esteem.

  • He was educated at George Washington University (prime recruiting ground for the CIA). He was enrolled in the Governance and Political Management Program at George Washington University where Guaidó was a protege of Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, a former executive director of the IMF and part of the Venezuelan oligarchy that controlled the the energy sector removed by the newly-elected Chavez government.

  • While a student Guaidó participated in CIA and oil industry-funded organizations and was involved with a student regime-change organization called Generation 2007. The group was trained by Otpor, a CIA-funded Serbian protest organization that provides regime-change training. It was involved with helping to overthrow Slobodan Milosevic.

  • Guaidó aligned with right-wing extremist Leopoldo López--first cousin of Thor Halvorssen (founder of US-based Human Rights Foundation)--to form the Venezuelan Popular Will Party. Together, they organized several agent provocateur influenced demonstrations where many were killed and they backed a 2002 coup on the Chavez government.

Venezuela Seizes Weapons/Communications Equipment:

According to a study conducted in early January 2019 by the local polling firm Hinterlaces, 86 percent of Venezuelans would disagree with international military intervention. And 81 percent oppose the US sanctions that have gravely hurt the South American nation’s economy.<<<
