In a brilliantly ludicrous exercise of time wasting..

..me and my pal Tom yesterday (before setting up on the job) laid out all of our camera gear on his Peli cases for what turned in to a mini photo shoot of our, errr, cameras.

There’s something satisfying about knowing that we’ve worked hard to own all the gear in the picture. And that wasn’t even all our gear!

Anyway, I think we nailed the job at hand though; a 6 camera shoot of an artist in a studio performing an entire album start to finish. It was fantastic to be a part of.

There are many moments in my job where I feel privileged to be in positions to experience such things.

It felt like a personal show - just for us.

Fantastic fun, this ‘work’ of mine.

no wonder you are making this great videos, look at the equipment. :D
jk, never had the opportunity to try Canon Cinema line, but it must be great :D

They are workhorse cameras. They are so so versatile it’s unreal.
But as us filmmakers know; it’s not always the camera that makes videos decent. It’s how you use them, how you light, how you shoot, how you make decisions.
I might do my next shoot on my grandads minidv camera to push my skills!

that could be fun, and if used for the right video (where that look would be appropriate) it could be quite cool.

did not Tarantino filmed The Hateful Eight in some crazy film format?

Exactly, used in the right way it could be great! Not seen The Hateful Eight but doesn’t surprise me that he would choose to try different formats for different aesthetics.
It’s on Netflix so I’ll give it a watch out of interest

just checked, it was ultra panavision in 70mm, last time used few decades ago. think the goal was to go super wide.
