Do you know currently Facebook is forced to give their data to Vietnam Goverment if being requested? You should read it here:

Bloomberg

So TLDR is, the Vietnam government forced Facebook to open their local office in Vietnam and Facebook must comply the strict rules from the government, one of them is this:

The law, requires foreign internet companies to store data within the country and open local offices. If requested, they’ll also be required to hand over to the government the data of users suspected of anti-state activity -- including spreading news that may impede Hanoi or hurt the economy.

This creates chaos in Vietnam especially for political activism. Many activists in Vietnam fear the repercussion and brutal crackdown from the communist regime will be more easy because the activists can't hide under the anonymous content anymore in Facebook.

Vietnamese Join Minds.com

The reaction is fast, many Vietnamese in flocks join Minds.com.

I noticed this when I was login for the first time in Minds, maybe because Indonesia is one of the country in the region with Vietnam, many posts in my timeline were from Vietnamese. And now Vietnamese estimated 10 percent of Minds user

The surge of new users from Vietnam now accounts for nearly 10% of Minds total user base of about 1.1 million.

This is The CHANCE FOR STEEMIT TOO!!

I think this is the moment for all alt-tech social media. We should encourage Vietnamese to also join Steemit. Steemit is also open platform that will protect free speech. I think there will be more Government crackdown like in the Vietnam, because there are some kind of surging in populism politics and censorship reaction from the big tech like Google and Facebook. Alternative like Steemit and Minds can be the answer to all of this. Steemit has blockchain system that will almost impossible to crackdown, because it is not centralized. And up until now, Steemit or Minds don't answer to any government regulation except the US with its first amendment. Facebook already banned in China and starts to do the same in Vietnam, even in Pakistan because of the Facebook post man got executed. This is the chance for alt-tech to offer the new way for users who want to speak out their mind!

Vietnam PEOPLE LETS JOIN STEEMIT TOO!!! #vietnameseonsteemit
