Classic Men Watches

in #vintagewatches6 years ago

A wise man once said “time is money”, and also said “time spent can’t be retrieved”. Time is an essential element to the everyday man. Hence watches are very essential to man as well. Your outfit is never complete without a watch, an unpopular opinion though. There are a whole lot of watches in the world today, we have the digital, analogue, smartwatch etc… just to mention a few. But we would base our discussion on classic watches and what they entail what makes the watch a classic one and why is it a classic watch and so on.
Sure, anybody can wear a watch. But there’s an incredibly high barrier of entry for watch novices interested in history and provenance the things that make vintage watches so valuable. Most record-breaking timepieces don’t have catchy nicknames like Paul Newman’s or The Unicorn. Often, they just have ordinary, forgettable, and easily confused name is it a Submariner or Sea-Dweller? or, worse, go by numbers that specify a particular reference. And even if you do know that you’re interested in a Rolex Daytona, you’d still need to know not all Daytona’s are created equally to get a good deal.
Then, of course, you have to be sure the watch you’re getting isn’t a fake and has all its original parts. Trying to sort all this out with the internet can be exhausting, this article will help you be able to differentiate between the original and replica watches. There are traditionally three types of buyers who want the name of a luxury watch manufacturer on their wrist.
One is the collector who values the artistry and mechanics that make up a fine timepiece. This individual understands and respects their value and appreciates the craftsmanship. The second type of person buys a luxury watch purely for the statement it makes about their lifestyle. The third type of person is the same in that they want to impress others, but they can’t afford the real thing. Even though the second kind of watch buyer may not be tasteful or likable, they still made a legitimate purchase.
You’ll still be better off buying a watch that you can afford than trying to be someone you’re not, which in the case of watch buyer type #2, may be a good thing. It is not gentlemanly behavior to lie to those you interact with, nor is it gentlemanly to break the law.
Replica watches generally have very short lifespans. They tend to be made of inferior materials, regardless of what you spent. Can you really trust the seller that their $500 version is better quality than the $50 version? I don’t think so. They’re selling you on something that isn’t real. Expect that if you are buying a fake watch, it will not last long. Regardless of what you may have heard, even the most expensive replicas are crap. The fake watch industry has one single purpose to make as much money as possible.

This means that the manufacturer has to get paid, the seller has to get paid and expenses like advertising and website management need to be paid. Like any criminal, they will do whatever they can to get the biggest return possible. They are con artists. They’re selling you a fake product. Why would you trust them when they claim it’s the best fake on the market? In the end, even if they are charging a small fortune for it, they are still using the least expensive materials possible and the poorest craftsmanship they can find. Fake watches don’t retain any value.

You may have spent $10 or you may have spent $300, but either way, it’s worth nothing after you buy it. A Walmart-brand watch bought on sale will be more valuable than any fake watch, regardless of how much you spent on it. While traveling in the Far East, it can be easy to say “hmm, I’ll just spend $20 at this stand, even though it’s fake.” Let’s face it, there are quite literally, dozens of stands in the markets selling fake watches. Not just in the Far East, but even in American flea markets.
The problem is that many of the people who have bought them overseas on a whim because it was cheap and looked neat, regretted it almost immediately when it didn’t even make the flight home before it was broken. It may have only been $20, but you could have lit that $20 bill on fire and had the same results. If you are tempted, just give that money to a charity, buy a homeless person a sandwich or get your kid a teddy bear. It will probably last longer than the watch and it will certainly have a more meaningful impact.
Imagine trying to understand every nuance without the internet in your back pocket. That’s especially true of an item like watches, which provides buyers with an opportunity to flex anytime and anywhere. “A great wristwatch, unlike a piece of art, can accompany them indoors and out,” says Boutros.
Buying an expensive piece of art would require the collector to invite people over in order to seem impressive. Who needs that? “The car, you have to put it in the garage or park it when you go into the boardroom,” says Boutros. A watch requires only a gesture at the wrist. This old thing? It was Elvis Presley’s.
When it comes to classic dress watches for men, it’s all about understated and unpretentious style. Classic watches appeal to self-assured gentlemen who don’t need flashing lights and chimes on their watch to get attention and, in this context, the three-hander wins’ hands down. Three-hand watches perform the very essential functions of a watch and only indicate the hours, minutes and seconds and possibly the date against an uncluttered background. For many homophiles, a round 39mm mechanical gold watch on a leather strap is the apogee of good taste but, as you will discover, there are many varieties of three-hand watches to suit gentlemen of all tastes and pockets.
Buying any vintage watch that isn’t from an authorized dealer is dangerous. It’s a gamble and a game. And also buying a classic watch would definitely add a glow to your appearance while save you some money once you purchase a good and original watch you don’t not need to bother about getting a new one anytime soon. Make sure you know what you’re looking at or seek the advice of someone who does. Just as you wouldn’t buy a used car from a guy in a back lane if you knew nothing about it, don’t do that same thing with a watch.
