The Spanish Christmas Lottery

in #viva7 years ago (edited)

Hola, ¿qué tal?

Living in Spain for so many years taught me so many things. I've learned to speak Spanish, eat properly, dress elegantly and even how to dance Sevillanas!

However, being married to a Spaniard has taught me something far more important.

Over the years I've learned what multi-cultural really means.

Until you've laughed over cultural differences over a breakfast of cold pizza, you'll never truly appreciate how different - and how alike - we all really are.

Which brings me to share with you a cultural quirk that I discovered a while back.

You see, in Spain the “Lotería de Navidad” or Christmas Lottery is a big event. People obsess over the numbers. They share tickets with family members, at the office and pretty much in every group they belong to.

And most importantly, they worry incessantly about a near strike.

What?

Yes, Spaniards don't mind losing the lottery. After all, the odds are against you.

However, what really worries them is that someone really close might win!

They just can't stand the thought of being the only one at the office who doesn't win. Or the only member of the PTA who skipped buying that ticket.

“Can you imagine how terrible it would be to have to go in to work when everyone else has retired? Give me a ticket, just in case.”

Funny, right?

Well, before you laugh consider this...

How are you going to feel in a few years when the VIVA Crown Holders have become a truly powerful force in an ever-expanding VIVAconomy and you let the opportunity pass you by?

You won't be able to say, “nobody told me about it.”

So, now you're in the exact same boat as all the Spaniards a few days before Christmas.

If you're on the fence, drop by http://chat.vivaco.in and we'll be glad to answer your questions.

Or look the other way - the choice is yours.

¡Feliz Navidad!

Yours,

I will support viva coin, hopefully my decision is right. :)

The Viva project has a lot of potential! The team is bright and hard working. I've been invested since the early posts here on steemit, and I have already been richly rewarded. I think there is a good chance that people getting in now will do very well. This is the time to learn about Viva and consider investing in these very early days!

Fear of missing out! I wrote about the Christmas lottery and the same thing here.

Best commercial ever featuring "el gordo"-

Lol It is a lillte early to say feliz navidad right? :)

But it is true we buy a lot of décimos for the lottery. The best part is the next day to see all the videos from the lucky ones celebrating on the streets in many different cities across the country :)
