I heard this quote years ago but it didn't make sense until very recently. Everything I dealt with in the month of May has been preparing me for what's to come. It has gotten rid of my previous belief that i'm owed everything because I do what I am told to do. It has come to my understanding that doing what you're "supposed" to is designed to keep one from growing.
Life is weird like that.

I always cannot help but love such command style you are using, as exemplified in this succinct video. It is direct and specific, but when applicable it always takes the opportunity to salt this commands with genuine empathy and compassion. If only this were the approach adopted by most real-world managers, administrators, and leaders.
It will never be because most jobs require managers to keep their workers in a particular state of mind that leaves them wanting to leave but cannot because they "need" the position.
