Safety Tips To Observe When Your Kids Are Around...

in #wafrica6 years ago

Kids are naturally curious; they seem to poke their noses into any and everything. Many people say that you spend the first few months teaching kids how to walk and then the next few days, teaching them to keep still.

A crawling kid is prone to every little domestic accident and as parents or guardians, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that our kids are kept safe at most times.

So what are the safety tips to observe when your kids are around?

Remove all sharp objects

Objects like needles, iron, blades, knives and even earrings and many more should be put away from the reach of children. They could be pierced while playing with them or even be swallowed.

Remove large bowls of water.

You can either remove them completely, or cover them up. Little kids can easily drown in large bowls filled with water. Make sure you watch your kids around pools too.

Remove slippery objects.

Things like banana peels, water on the floor and oils should be completely removed. Children can easily step on them, slip and hit their heads.

Poisonous things.

Insecticides, sniper, petrol, kerosene, engine or brake oils and all sort of poisonous liquid or food should be removed from the reach of children. Kids tend to put almost everything into their mouths and you cannot absolutely trust a crawling child.

Heavy objects.

Make sure you have no heavy object that your little one can easily drag. Like a stone placed on top of a shelf or bed, once the kid starts tugging continuously, the stone and roll and fall in the child. So try to be as careful as possible.

Suffocating objects.

Your pillows and towels could be more dangerous than you think. Little children wrapping towels, bed sheets or blankets around their heads isn't a good idea. Also take pillows out of the reach of your little ones.

Fire, hot objects.

Don't plug your iron, electric stove, put on your gas cooker and leave them unchecked. Children crawl and walk faster then you can imagine. So be very watchful when dealing with fire or hot objects.

I could go on and on, but I hope you've found these little tips useful.
