In today's age, we often distinguish between rural and urban societies. The distinction does not really have anything to do with the simple understanding of society, because in a modern society, no matter how small a village, there must be influences from the city. The differences between rural and urban communities are, in essence, gradual.
We can distinguish between rural communities and urban communities each of which has its own characteristics. Each has
an independent system, with very different social functions, structures and social processes, sometimes even being said to be "opposite". The differences between rural and urban communities are:
