Good Neighbours

Over here in the South East of England, we've been spared the effects of Storm Callum that even caught @pennsif by surprise. but we still got enough heavy rain this morning to fill up the drains and turn the road into a temporary mini-river.

Big thanks to our neighbours a couple of doors down, who donned the hi-vis and got out with the rake to clear the gutters. Lots of leaves and seeds that have fallen over the last week or so have made their way down the hill, there are beech, chestnut, oak and horse chestnut all throwing their fruit off at the top of the hill and the rain brought most of it down to the lowest level, which of course is also where the drains are located.

If you've got hi-vis, you've got to use it haven't you? It was a kind neighbourly act but also self-preservation because if those drains overflow much the water will be lapping at her doorstep. Also the next house down recently lost it's railings when a car came down and round that corner too quickly, unable to stop. I sat and watched for a while and it's amazing how stupidly fast people still drive even when it's pouring like that.

It's not like we haven't got a huge sign in the middle of the road to tell you whether to go FAST or SLOW!

Thank you for the mention Lloyd.

Our situation was quite trivial compared with others - we had only 4 inches of water, others in the area had 4 feet.

Still drying out the carpets, but otherwise all repaired and recovered now.
