Overcast sky

This was around five in the evening. shortly after, it rained heavily for four hours without stop, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The lightning and rain combo offer usually occurs in the month of November. It is also the time Chennai is blessed with rains.

The northeast monsoon seems to have officially begun today. The days are hot and sunny but after two in the afternoon, the sky begins to look and feel overcast which is followed by thunder rumbling and lightning.

The Kerala state disaster management authority has already issued warnings through their fb page and newspapers about how to avoid lightning strikes and what to do if a person is struck.

People are advised to avoid going out, if possible.
No one should go outside to take damp clothes and thus risk getting hit. The public are also advised to avoid bathing during such strikes and not to touch metal objects. Mobile phone usage is also not advisable.

I do hope people listen to such warnings and thus avoid becoming a target.

How is the weather in your place? Has it been like the usual or is it different from what it used to be? There are a lot of climate changes taking place. That is why I asked about it. I hope more people write about it and share through other social media too so that the leaders are forced to take action and pass bills that prevent pollution and punish the offenders.

Do you see the debris lying around? This is just opposite our place. A political party had won the elections and the workers decided to use the land to celebrate. The people left after the tea party but left it lying like this. I took this photo and put it up in some sites but a few workers who had noticed me did not leave to chance and cleaned the place within an hour. At least, they bothered to do it instead of leaving it to pollute the land and attracting vermin and crows and the like.
