Wednesday Walk - Illinois Prairie

Here's a few shots of typical Illinois prairie grasslands I caught this weekend for #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

This area is good for observing hawks, they like to sit in the dead tree and swoop in on muskrats and squirrels in the open field.

This is the ditch where the muskrats live. You can also see lots of turtles on the edge in the morning here. This is the same area where i caught the softshell turtle https://d.tube/v/sketch.and.jam/lrefw1kzuq1

Plenty of milkweed lines the path with lots of different insects feeding off it.

Here's an afid infestation on one of the leaves. Ladybugs will come by and snack on these guys.

Here's some orange milkweed, the butterflies go crazy over the orange milkweed.

Here's a fresh monarch feasting off of it.

Here's a mix of yellow and purple flowers.

Also some strange looking pods, i'm not sure what plant this is. Note the fly on the left.

Here's some milkweed bugs feeding off one of the pods. Happy #wednesdaywalk
