Wednesday Walk - New Mural On My Block
This is my contribution to #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.
I live in an artistic community in New Jersey, there is street art everywhere. This mural is brand new, only one block from my building.
This is actually the first day of painting, they used only blue, black and white paint.
The flowers, the house and the other details followed after a couple of days.
My opinion? It’s cute, I like the cobalt blue, a nice splash of color. Unfortunately, there is another mural on the opposite site of the same street, right in front of this one. A big bird on a green background.
I think it is too much. Add the pavement art, lots of sea creatures, and you’ll get the whole picture. If we keep going on like this, we’ll live in a circus 🎪
That’s my honest opinion. What do you guys think? I believe in moderation. 😉
I think they're both gorgeous, @starjewel, but I could see having them both so close together could be a bit much. I adore the cobalt coloring in the first one too - it's one of my favorite colors, and I think they used it well in their mural. Thanks for sharing these!
I love the colbalt blue too. I like the whole mural. I just think that two murals on same street is not tasteful.
I think the art on the green one is a bit clumsy. And too monolithic in its green background colour.

If every public surface gets painted it might be a bit much. But the occasional mural can brighten up the neighborhood.
Yes, occasional. But they are coming up overnight everywhere. It started to bother me already. Maybe I become a grouchy old woman. 😉
It really is awesome that your city let the artist put they work on the streets.
Some will say is has not the same value as the illegal scene, but I think it let's the artist experiment more and grow faster.

I am not sure if these artists have real permits. It’s kind of un-organized. I might check into this issue, it’s getting out of hand.
I Do love Street art myself but it can become too much and over the top, Like you say Moderation is so important with so many things including street art

Yup. I think I must do something about this, although I don’t like to get involved with city hall, and I do love art. But as a concerned citizen, I think I have to speak up. It’s getting ridiculous.
I likev that blue color and that moon the most.
Yes, the blue mural fits into the whole landscape.
Brightening up the walls with paint is a nice concept if it is kept fresh, too much will also spoil the neighbourhood. Designated areas should be allowed only where walls are really boring with no appeal at all.
Lovely red brickwork or older buildings when proper design and thought was put in should never be painted, my my opinion.

I totally agree with you. Will have to bring this issue to the attention of local mayor. It looks like there are no rules.

Hey hahaha I would love live in a place like that xD I get it could get a little bit overwhelming but having the inspiration of art in your whole neighborhood, I thinks that's awesome, I just can make murals in my room xD
