The Hard Boiled Mind : A Weekend Freewrite.

I haven't had any experience with an hard-boiled mind before, God forbid. At least not so hard to be labelled as hard boiled. But I've come close to some who could be termed as such. Mr Prontewa has been the most soft spoken man I ever know partly due to his religious lifestyle. A Christian, worker, deacon, name it, he is well known in the church.

An occurrence one day later made me want to change my mind in calling him a soft spoken person, even if he is, his mind is not. Mr P. as his name is called came from a polygamous home, while his mother had him she left him for another man at a tender age of one. Leaving him in care of his step-mom, the step-mom didn't make life easy for him. Everyday was hell for him, some the scar of those days were still on his body. The touching part was that her mom was still in that same town as him, but never cared to come check him even for once. The neighbours who has seen the horror of what was happening has tried several times to contact her. Still, she acted as if she didn't even have a child in that home.

Situation were so bad once that, he has to beg for food on the street, becoming a hardcore street hustler at an age when his mate were in school. Education became a luxury for him, though he managed to come out in flying, which to him is a miracle even till date.

Years passed and he later forgot the existence of his mom, that wasn't all, his mom even didn't have any child in the home she parked into.

Talking of karma, years passed and Mr P. became a wealthy business, it was now time for him. His mom's husband died and the family didn't give her anything as possession according to the custom. That was how she was left with nothing, and her poverty begins to set in. In distress she called to her only son and on that fateful day came to the church to beg for forgiveness. To the astonishing of everyone and our surprise, Mr P refuse to forgive his mother, despite the pastor telling him to forgive as God has forgiven him. Mr P stayed adamant and even told the pastor that if this is what will take him to hell as offense of unforgiveness, so be it.

Can a mind be ever hard-boiled as that?
