Hacktivism, the art of taking back control through the means of breaking into where most aren't allowed. Hacktivists come in all shapes & sizes & political-motives, but what do they offer for the whole of society?

Today, WikiTruth pulls back the curtain on the hackers-den, and gives you a clearer look into the art of digital-protests.

Hacktivism offers the world a much needed freedom, but more importantly they offer some of the most interesting perspectives, tools, and tactics out there.
I want to share my favorite and inspiring hacker stories (at least the ones I had the opportunity to actually learn from, and learn from the same) with you. I really think they are worth sharing, because we as Hacktivists need to understand what some of the best stories in their space really offer.

As an aside, my favorite hackers were always those who understood their space and made it their place, even if they came from other corners of the world. These are people who had learned and grown within a given group of people with different cultural, political, etc. biases.

This was not always the case, as I had to learn from and adapt to different people and cultures in order to work as a professional for others, and not for myself. Still, it's my favorite aspect of the genre because I wanted people to become and continue to become something through their experiences.
This is not an easy task, and it's really hard to learn something without experience.

In recent times, hackers have gone from nerdy-stereotype, to full-blown internet protectors. Using their special skillset, hackers are able to correct whatever wrongs they may come across, according to how they see fit. They can create false passwords, or create spoof password databases, but sometimes they are still too stupid or immature to even understand the significance of what they are doing so they just throw around the wrong words.

Hackers tend to be in it for the money too. A lot of people that try to hack someone's IP address see it as a good way to build a large resume that they then can use to take over another company or something.

For example, a common way of getting rid of someone's email address is to simply paste a malicious "worm" file into his or her web browser. Once the person reads it, they are sent to a website. The worm itself can be used to hack into anything at any given time and the site will respond with "Ok, this has been saved in our databases. Now load it up." This makes it possible for the hacker to take over a website by posting the URL along with other information such as the IP address and login. The "worm" file can then send a request for access to the victim's account.

Our society's obsession of power corrupting the people has always been dangerous, dangerous to the people, dangerous to the world. It's also been the cause of war to make us more complacent, even as power corrupts our world. As the Internet revolution started taking off in 2008, we began the slow shift from a world dominated by corporations and governments to a world in which we can truly call "equal-opportunity."

Are hackers to be trusted? Should the average person be able to wield such damaging powers? What will a world where corporations & governments fearing the people look like?

WikiTruth believes in this world. And we fight to make it a reality.

We are WikiTruth.
We hereby declare to post information onto this immutable ledger with the sole intent to distribute, inform, and participate in the free exchange of knowledge.
We do not believe in "government-given" rights. We believe that the only thing a government can do with a person's rights, is take them away.

As a human, you are innately born with freedom. Any "rights" that are "granted" to you by the government, are merely those they have yet to stripe you off.
To put it bluntly: A GOVERNMENT CAN NOT GIVE RIGHTS, IT CAN ONLY TAKE THEM AWAY.

With that in mind, we will be using the Steem blockchain in order to release information that should be public and free.
