Curie Witness Update - February 2019

in #witness-category5 years ago

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since we publicly announced witness update about what has been going on in the @curie community.

We had some staff changes which didn't endangered our work. Svemirac is unanimously named to be our main witness operator. He has experience in python coding and several months of running an independent witness node.

Recent delegation of 800k SP that we received will help us greatly to continue the work we do and reach out to more authors.

Witness Operations

As of 5h February we have upgraded our primary node and officialy switched our operators.

I (@svemirac) have been monitoring both primary and backup node in the previous 15 days, and decided to finally step in 5 days ago. We have been running for a few days now, and the take-over was pretty smooth.

I managed to get a great deal for our witness nodes and reduce some costs while improving our configurations. New primary node have better processing power and we boosted RAM for our backup one.

New configurations:

Primary node in Falkenstein:
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650V3 - 3.5GHz
HDD: 2x SSD SATA 480 GB
RAM: 128 GB (8x16G) DDR4

Backup node in Seattle:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2650 - 2GHz
HDD: 1x 2TB
RAM: 128 GB (8x16G) - DDR3

For monitoring tools we are using netdata, and the great tool from witness essentials, Watcher, made by @therealwolf which is used for failsafe kill switch and notifying us through various messaging systems.

The @curie witness update is written by our witness operator, @svemirac.

Congrats and thanks for your labor.

Thank you for everything!

Hey, hope you are having a nice day!

We stopped by to invite you to participate in the "Caption this photo" and "Finish this story" contests and win prizes worth 12 Steem!

Also check out 1Ramp on Android and Web.

Again, said in a polite way, consider to change that name: Finish the Story is a contest run by the Bananafish community for one year. Originality will reward you better than copying the name our most renown contest.

Hey, that is an older contest. We are not creating any new contests under the same name.
