Hey Steemians. I'm really excited to present to you the Top 20 Witness Forum recording. This is from Saturday June 30th. We have a good discussion with @andrarchy about what Steemit is putting together. Sounds like we're getting really close on HF20 "Velocity." That's a big deal as it's some of the key changes that have to take place for our block infrastructure to allow the other flashier updates.

Velocity won't be sexy. You won't notice big changes as a user, but this is all about blockchain scalability. These changes let us implement SMTs and Communities in a way that isn't possible with the current backend.

Developing on Steem

One thing that I'm growing in appreciation of is the ability of a web developer to act like a web developer and just use Steem. What do I mean? Well if you want to work with Ethereum you have to learn frameworks and smart contracts in order to participate in development. If you want to work with Steem you just do the same things you've been doing for a long time. You make API calls, but now you call a blockchain instead of a database. Steem has bascially made it to the insanely difficult resource to find of blockchain developer isn't really necessary. What you need is a web developer who understands that you can call the block like you would a database. Now people that have been doing web development for the last 20 years can interact with us too.

Anyway, the forum

We were able to have a good discussion of Steem and listen to the witnesses

The Recording

I just Save community for steem witness forum. It's a diversion you can play after you've made a record on the Steem Blockchain. You'll buy cards and get a blend of summoners.
You'll orchestrate them in tournments to battle and win prizes and eminence.

SP Saving account, yeah that's an interesting idea

Everytime when people involved in steemit community and steem blockchain talks/debate about steem somehow i get excited.

When people from TOP 20 witness gather and discuss, i feel our votes or not just votes, they prove they deserve that place and while we move around here, they work in backstage.

Grants everybody!!!

(I have some free votes, tell me who needs them.)

Pense que eso se lanzaría en el segundo aniversario de Steemit. Aún no hay fecha para la nueva pagina y esos cambios Profe. @aggroed

What is steem witness reply please

This is from the Steemit FAQ section and should help answer. They are people who we vote for to keep the steem blockchain running:

What is the difference between Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, and Delegated Proof of Stake?
Proof of work - Miners solve a complex mathematical problem. The miner that solves the problem first adds the block to the blockchain. The network rewards the miner for doing so.

Proof of stake - Requires ownership, or stake, in the cryptocurrency. The more tokens you own, the more block creation power you have. Benefits: eliminates the need for expensive mining rigs, runs on a tiny fraction of the power, and it requires block producers to have a stake in the network.

Delegated proof of stake - Block-creating accounts, called witnesses, are collectively approved by Steem stakeholders. Instead of relying on proof of work to find blocks, the Steem network actively schedules these accounts to improve the time between blocks to 3 seconds.

What you need is a web developer who understands that you can call the block like you would a database. Now people that have been doing web development for the last 20 years can interact with us too.

This is pretty awesome! Does this mean that an interface would/could be hosted on centralised servers?
