Non Standard Measurement

We did an activity that we used only yarn for measuring the length of any materials inside the classroom. I told to my pupils that the measurement that we did is a non standard measurement that our ancestors used this kind of technique on measuring things.It was an old tradition too that we can also practice in case of emergency if we need to measure something that we cannot find ruler,meter stick or any other standard measurement.
