World Cup Topscorer Race
So we are about to enter the quarter finals of the biggest competition in football, the FIFA World Cup.
Now that many tourney favourites and even the elite Messi(Argentina) and Ronaldo(Portugal) have been eliminated, the questions on our minds are as many as the possible permutations. Apart from which of the underdogs will win, who will receive the honour of the much coveted golden boot?
The record is Ronaldo (Brazil) with 8 goals in 2002, and last world cup Columbian young superstar James Rodriguez fended off stiff competition to win the golden boot with 6 goals.
So how are the top goal scorers faring so far?
° | Player | Country | Goals |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Harry Kane | England | 6 |
2 | Lukaku | Belgium | 4 |
° | Dzyuba | Russia | 3 |
° | Cheryshev | Russia | 3 |
° | Mbappe | France | 3 |
° | Cavani | Uruguay | 3 |
As you can see, Kane has already equalled the winning goal tally of previous winners Suker(Croatia, 1998) and James Rodriguez (Columbia, 2014) who had 6 goals each, while surpassing the 5 goal tally of Klose (Germany, 2006) and Muller (Germany, 2010).
We can't wait for the next matchups.
