Is it laziness or is it a result of a haphazard education? Thank goodness I went through the education before such things as "whole language" and "new math". That's why there are college graduates who can not spell or do simple arithmetic without the aid of a calculator.

My brother, two years younger than me, was a victim of the 'phonetic' experiment. Spell it as it sounds - he could never spell worth a damn.
Neither can 85% of the rest of the world. It is a tragic loss...
