Hello Steemers! (Steemians? Steemites?)

Wanted to jump straight into the writing, but figured a word of introduction beforehand might be in order.

My name's Mario Vega -- I'm a freelance web developer and writer based out of Orange County, California.

Long-time cryptocurrency watcher, first-time investor. Steem seems to me massively undervalued, not only as a robust blockchain in itself but also as a link between cryptocurrency and the broader world. Hope to help change that by contributing here often!

Writing-wise, my work splits along three main categories:

1. Fiction. I've loved writing fiction, particularly literary fantasy, for years -- I'm still not very good at it, but the prose and worldbuilding aspects of the creative process have always appealed to me.
2. Tutorials. I've taught myself how to build websites over the last two years with the help of many fantastic educational tools and open-source projects. By sharing some of that knowledge I hope to make the path into self-sufficiency easier for those who come after me.
3. Commentary. I've got a lot of opinions on stuff, and sometimes I share them.

I'll probably end up contributing a little bit of all three here, at least until I know (or you let me know) what does and what doesn't resonate with the broader Steemit community.
