It was around seven o'clock in the evening and Aluko was going home after a hetic day at school for there was labour that day (Aluko usally stays late to steal some fruits at the teachers quaters which he shared with Oye the next day in class, Alukos respect grew for Oye after the teeth incident and they became friends) when he noticed some strange noise coming out of the Headmasters office.Aluko who normally is a very inquisitive person decided to take a peak through the termite infested wooden window.

what aluko saw was beyond his wildest imagination. He saw something that resembled the headmaster and at the same time, looked like an apparition an african spirit of the dead with what looked like blood smeared allover his body
he was wearing a grass woven clothing and had chalk marks his body and dancing around what looked like an human head.

Flashback:The legend of The African spirit of the dead

Every year, precisely the middle of the year,A sprit of the Dead comes out of isolation and takes a choosen child for sacrificial rituals to the Queen of the dead Iyaiku (Meaning Mother of Death). The child is lured by the spirit and beheaded using his or her blood to appease Iyaiku.

When the Missionaries came to Orile village (thats the name of Ades village) the first thing they did was to stop the yearly ritual which was done by putting the representative of the spirit of the dead.they made sure the long arm of the law catches up with anyone who was involved in any thing concerning human sacrifice.with the coming of the missionaries to orile village.there came an era of peace, comfort, education, medical services in short the missionaries brought nothing but good things to the village.

Back to present:

Looking closely at the head in the center of the room,Aluko recognised the head as that of a junior student called adekunle, kunles father was a yam farmer and his mother was beadmaker.kunle was a cool guy at school who always listens to instructions" so how the heck did the headmaster manage to capture and behead the poor boy "Aluko thought as he watched the headmaster dance round the head.

suddenly, the termite infested wooden frame of the window where Aluko was leaning on gave way and broke with a loud crack.there was a brief moment of silence then Aluko saw the headmaster looking directly at him with bloodshot eyes...
