Please enjoy this original Fantasy/Sci-fi story Cont. from Part Sixty or Story Start/Part One if your just joining.

A gentle ocean breeze blew across the  battlefield the unmistakable smell of death hung on the wind.

The field  was silent, no more clash of steel or war cries, only the whimpering cries of the  wounded and dyeing remained.  The two opponent’s eye balled each other as they  each prepared for combat, those soldiers who remained standing ducked  for cover or simple stood silently starring in anticipation.

“I accept your challenge” replied Marianna  confidently, simultaneously extinguishing the life of a brave solder  trying to flee… burned to a crisp by a quick fireball spell, there was  no scream.

The challenge for leadership made… Nathan prepared himself for battle. He knew there would be no easy victory today. His  mind raced back to the war room, where his generals had briefed him on  this foe, for some reason he expected a much older woman, not a young  and beautiful sorceress like this.

Shaking the visions of the past from his head, he  accepted her present beauty just a distraction, he needed to remain  present and focused. As Marianna closed he could clearly make out the  glow of the fire shard necklace, the source of her power, it was  intense, bright red, a clear indication of her critical power.

This would not be a battle he could win through magic alone.

He searched deep within himself to find Sharee, he detected just her presence, weak and distant…there would be no help there.

As if he could read his mind, Valar quickly  crossed the battle field and presented him with his sword and  shield…Arkassor Steel! This would come in handy.

“Good luck old man” Valar whispered with a casual  wink and quick pat on the back, before disappearing behind the nearest  make shift log barricade.

Sword and Shield in hand Nathan took in his surroundings.  A war scene was before him, dead and dyeing,  smoke and burning barricades a destroyed keep wall, there were many  bodies laid across the field, but more importantly many useful objects  for a skilled warrior to put to use.

He prepared himself, connecting once again to the  nature around him, his mind string tentacles multiplied and fueled his  nature power reserves.

Marianna stopped briefly as if startled, it almost seemed like she was aware of his ability to gather powers. Her face screwed up in anger, her illusion of  beauty turned to ugliness and she extended her hands to unleash a wicked  fiery Spell.

Two massive waves of continual fire spewed from  her fingers, the ends of the flames gaining in bulk as the streams  expanded, quickly taking the form of two burning snarling demon dogs,  sprinting in Nathan’s direction.

This is an unedited/uncensored Fantasy novel which has been  written from my imagination exclusively for Steemians! The story  continues on request of my friend and fellow mallsballer @minismallholding and lets not forget @ryivhnn

That was great imagery at the end 😆 I’m mentally redlining your chapters though because I’m a bad person 🤣

Hahaha wth a very bad fiery up-goat demon red pen no doubt.

If I had a bit more time I could do a bit better, I sometimes come back and edit bits and pieces within the first 24 hours - but yeah, I think greater mastership of the written english language at my age is going to be ...slow at best, hence the 'unedited disclaimer' and forgivenessness request hehe :)
