Nathan didn’t have allot of time.
His heart pounded in anticipation as the burning demon dogs drew closer by the second…. He needed a plan and fast!
He concentrated on his mind strings and cast a quick but powerful nature magic spell to block their approach.
The ground momentarily trembled, following an unstoppable wall of rock and dirt erupted directly in the path of the approaching threat.
With fierce momentum and little time to react the closest beast slammed into the unexpected obstacle. The head-on collision causing fire, dirt and rock to spray across the battlefield, it exploded losing all cohesion upon hitting the blockade.
A nearby soldier crouching behind a rock was unexpectedly sprayed with burning flying debris, his clothes ignited in flame, he screamed and rolled putting himself out.
The second demon dog howled at a deafening pitch, just moments behind the first it launched itself using the fiery explosion to propel itself performing a massive leap to clear the damaged barricade and land with a thud just short of his position.
It’s momentum lost, the creature made a terrible snarling sound, the outline of its mouth filled with fiery teeth and sparks.

It coiled and performed a final leaping strike that defied gravity.
With no time for another spell Nathan reacted with a swift leap and roll to the right, barely dodging the flying attack the creature again landing with a thud.
Missing It’s target the burning dog roared, spraying drooling sparks from it's mouth. It pressed for another quick attack sharply spinning and swiping its huge burning paw in his direction.
He raised his shield and the flaming blow was deflected against the Arkassor Shield. The tremendous force of the blow sent him staggering backwards, the intense heat scolded the skin on his face.
"I've had about enough of this shit!" he announced to no-one in particular, gritting his teeth he gathered a little more energy. He swiftly weaved a fresh spell, re-enforcing his Armour by asking the moisture in the air to surrounded his defenses.
The creature unrelenting pressed forward swiping again at his shield, only this time it’s entire leg disintegrating in a ball of sparks and steam upon hitting the enchanted shield. It howled sending shivers up his spine.
He tapped into his remaining power reserves for a quick counter attack, working his inner magic and mind strings to master control of the water around his Armour.
Connecting to the wind, and pointing his sword forward all the water from his Armour came to life and converged to the tip of his sword creating a single spraying stream of fast moving water.
The watery blast was short lived but effective, directed square into the dogs face, it easily extinguishing the creature’s life...only a cloud of steam remained.
For a moment there was silence again..
Then cheers filled the battlefield again. He couldn’t be sure, but the cheering seemed to be coming from the enemy troops as well.
