Formatting Makes Me Homocidal
If you've ever wondered why I like my manual typewriter so much, one of the reasons is that I hate formatting in Word. It makes me cuss. And yell at the computer like it understands me.

Me: "NOOOOOOO! WTF even is that?? Who would want that?! Whyyyyyyyyy?????!"
Yeah. But I'm putting typed pages into Word now, so eventually I can publish them. I've done it before, but I always have to re-figure it out, plus I'm on a different version of Word than last time. And I think there were a couple of things I just gave up on with the last book; at some point (on my third order of a proof from the publisher, as I recall), I just had to say "good enough," or I was never going to publish. At least I fucking caught the random chapter deletion in the table of contents for no reason this time. That error is still in the print edition in my first book, because when I was checking the proof, I wasn't fine-tooth-combing the table of contents. Sigh. I call it my "hidden track." The chapter is in the book - it's just not in the ToC. LOL. One day I'll go back and edit the file for the ten billionth time and fix that, and the other typo I caught in the final release. One day. When I'm feeling masochistic.

So officially, yogurt is not the culprit in my protein shake allergy. Bah. Oh well. I tried. It's probably the cocoa. I'm going to try cooking it into syrup next. You know how cooking things kills off some nutrients? Maybe it will kill the allergen? I don't know, I'm grasping at I-love-chocolate straws here, people, let me have my dreams.

I know what you mean. Word drives me crazy as does Windows! I just want to sit down and work without having a computer tell what I need to do. When my last computer died a few years ago, I went with Ubuntu(Linux) and I haven't looked back. It was a bit of a learning curve for this old lady but at least I don't have a computer refiling my stuff because it is more efficient!
That’s why I use Pages instead of Word... so much better for UX in my experience.

I've never tried Pages. I know Amazon only takes certain file types, though, so I'd have to check or convert it.

Word is the absolute worst. Are you required to use it? I find LibreOffice to be so much more functional and intuitive - and it's free whether you're on Linux or Windows.
Word isn't required per se, but certain formats are. I think, if I recall correctly, and it's been a few years so the rules might even be different now, it needs to either be a .doc, .html, or .pdf file.

I like the idea of having a mystery chapter in a book. Maybe it's supposed to be there, maybe not. Who knows? 🤷♀️ lol.
