#tbt Nine-year-old Storyteller: The Mystery Egg

in #writing6 years ago

When a nine-year-old aspiring writer is given the prompt to write about a "mystery," this is the result... Got to love all those adjectives and adverbs!

The Mystery Egg

There was a spotted egg in a sandy nest. No one was around. It was a mysterious mystery. There were footprints around the oval shaped nest. The size of the shell was like an ostrich egg. The egg had a tough shell.

On a nice spring day in April 1984 some healthy children came happily up to a beach. The children’s names were Dan, Kate, and Kathryn. Kate and Kathryn are identical twins. They kept on anxiously walking up the path when suddenly the twins discovered an egg lying very still in the sand on the beach.

The children excitedly looked and slowly looked AND happily looked at they egg until they quickly decided to call a detective.

When the tall detective finally arrived he fearfully looked around for some clues. The clues were that there was no Mommy around. Which means the mommy can’t sit on the nest because it is too heavy. There were giant footsteps around the nest too. So that meant the mommy was VERY big. And there were soft leaves on the nest. So the leaves were keeping the nest warm. The egg was nicely kept in a dry spot so it must be a reptile.

After a while the egg slowly started to hatch! Then there was a hugely great shake in the ground. But nobody was afraid. Bubbles quickly started to come out as the shell falls apart. And a purple tail comes out first!

It’s a baby DINASOR!!! The baby starts getting out of the egg. It is 20 inches long! And the baby was a brontosaurus!!!

THE END
