Nikola Tesla

Tesla, born in the Austrian Empire(better known as Croatia), had been influenced to create since a young age. His dad ,Milutin Tesla, use to built home crafted tools and machines and he had a talent for memorizing.

In 1870, Tesla moved north to attend a high school and afterwards he received advanced education in engineering and physics.

Tesla would later write that he became interested in demonstrations of electricity by his physics professor.[27] Tesla noted that these demonstrations of this "mysterious phenomena" made him want "to know more of this wonderful force".[28] Tesla was able to perform integral calculus in his head, which prompted his teachers to believe that he was cheating.[29] He finished a four-year term in three years, graduating in 1873

After graduating he moved back to his birth town and contracted cholera and this lead to him having multiple near death experiences and being housebound for nine months.

Tesla enrolled at Austrian Polytechnic in 1875. Tesla excelled in his first year , but from the second year on things got a little messy ( like life always does). In the second year Tesla began having a quarrel with one of his professors. Tesla claimed that the commutators used in dynamo's were unnecessary.

Tesla started working long hours. During that time (second year) Tesla got addicted to gambling. Tesla gambled away all his money but later managed to regain his initial loses. Because of this Tesla never graduated from the University.

Nikola left home once again to hide the shame of dropping out of university. Tesla moved to Slovenia where he worked for 60 florence a month as a draftsman. In 1879, Nikola's dad begged him to return home but he refused. His father passed away shortly after his visit.

Tesla returned to his hometown after not having a residence permit to live in Slovenia.

In January 1880, two of Tesla's uncles put together enough money to help him leave Gospić for Prague, where he was to study. He arrived too late to enroll at Charles-Ferdinand University; he had never studied Greek, a required subject; and he was illiterate in Czech, another required subject. Tesla did, however, attend lectures at the university, as an auditor (he did not receive grades for the courses)

1880 Marks the start of one of the remarkable things Nikola will go on to do. Tesla moved to Budapest (this man loved to travel) and Tesla became the Chief electrician at the Budapest Telephone Exchange(BTE). During his time as an employee at the BTE, Tesla made many improvements to the equipment and it is claimed that he perfected the working of telephone amplifiers. But this cannot be verified .
