Based on our past experiences, desires and needs in the unconscious, and our current situation. Intuition can give us an important idea. However, it is not necessarily "better" than our regular decision-making process. The two together - heart and mind, or mind and intuition - can actually work well together. It just takes a little effort and training.

People generally consider "Rational mind" to be a good thing, we think it's the function or process that guides our actions, logically, by avoiding emotion or prejudice, mind helps us to make the most of it. For this reason, many philosophers consider that mind is better than reactions to intuition within us.

What is the mind? This is a great philosophical question. Let's be clear that we're not just talking about the brain. The mind is more than just a brain, in part it's a seat of consciousness, "I" it determines who we are. Mind is also responsible for a higher level of intelligence. It combines sensation, thinking, judgment, and memory. It allows us to weigh costs and benefits to make rational decisions.

Rational thinking is the ability to take many variables into account, access, organize and analyze information to arrive at a sound result. Whether it's budget planning, comparing the pros and cons of a new job, or discussing politics with friends, we can use rational thinking every day. Rational thinking is very human. In fact, this is what sets us apart from other animals and so we are able to use tools, build cities, develop technology, and spread as creatures. Therefore, it is a large value and a useful attribute.

As you can see, rational thinking is the big reason why we are here today. This does not mean that the most is necessarily the best, because humans also need emotion. We are not like machines.

Rational thinking is useful, we can distance ourselves from the strong emotions that may work to guide our decision-making.

Rational thinking can sometimes go away. We are probably paralyzed if we make our decisions only on the mind, all options, large and small involve a lot of variables that would be impossible to decide without listening to the heart.

People often talk about having a "feeling" or "instinct." It is difficult to identify. Should be thought of as a means of knowledge, we take into account different things from our rational thinking. The heart can be based on things like the past (our experiences), personal needs (our feeling), the present (other people around us, choices, etc.). All this can lead to different calculations for logic alone.

Sometimes intuition comes to us as a mysterious, hard to describe feeling. It's hard to even know what that feeling means, we may feel unsure about changing our job and don't know why

Mind and heart do not have to be mutually exclusive, we can find ways to make them work together. The heart often speaks of feeling deep values that are not covered by our rational thought process. We should be able to define what are the deepest values and allow them to guide our rational thought.
