Hey guys, good evening. Its another friday. TGIF! right.... Lol! Well those that know me, will tell you otherwise. So for those out there like me that will just snuggle up and listen to music or binge watch episodes of the resident, we are definitely gonna have fun.
Today i continued my obsession with Natgeowild and i got to know more about the animals we share the world with. Today was all about dolphins. Amazing creatures. So full of life and character. Playful and are the most fond of amongst aqua life watchers like me!!!

Today i wonna share with you guys amazing facts about dolphins.
Dolphins are very intelligent creatures and are part of the toothed whale family like orcas and pilot whales.
They are mostly found around the world in shallow seas on the continental shelves and are carnivorous creatures that feed on mostly fish and squids. The coloration i.e the colour of their skin varies but is mostly dark coloured on the back than anywhere else.

Dolphins are known for their agility and very playful behavior which makes them the eye candy of watchers. They are known to leap out of the water, rise vertically above the water and take a look at their surroundings and they also follow ships to conserve their energy in a process called bow-riding. Most often, they synchronize their movement with one another.

In order not to drown while asleep, the dolphin shuts down just half of its brain, while the other half stays awake so that it can continue breathing. Yea, very amazing.

Dolphins stay in groups of five to hundred and make use of echolocation to hunter their prey by surrounding a school of fish and taking turns to swim across and catch them. They also follow sea birds in a cunning attempt to catch the fish they bring up to the surface. Intelligent indeed.

Dolphins have a gestation period of 9-17 months which they give birth to one child only. Twins are rare. When its time for delivery, they swim far from the pod and close to the surface. As soon as the calf is born, it rushes to the surface for it to take its first breath. The calf will remain with its mother for 3-8 years.

Dolphins live long lives and do not grow too big. The bottlenose dolphin can live as long as 40years and the orca between 70 and 80 years. The bottlenose dolphin grows as long as 8 feet and weigh as much as 200-300kg. Due to variety in the species, the smallest which is the maui dolphin is 4feet and weighs about 90lbs. Onlike the orca which grows to be really huge, at about 25 feet in length and weighs as much as 19000 pounds. Its also called the killer whale.
Dolphins are a few of the most friendly sea creatures known to man.

Thats all for today guys, do enjoy your weekend.
