NO TITLE LEFT TO USE!

They say pain is the fuel for your wheels. As a writer, pain fuels the wheels of your mind. They turn them round and around until these emotions become thoughts, and the thoughts become beautifully put down words. I guess this is why many of us welcome the pain. The low moments, the downcasted times. Many say poetry is sad. Truth is, it either contains an unbelievable amount of love, or an overwhelming amount of sadness- rarely humour, seldom happiness, but pain; there is always abundance of that.

Many times we tell another's story like it's ours. We tell stories of events that have only happened in our head, with so much imagery that they are believed. And often, we tell our stories like it's another's. The pain, sadness and fright behind every word, you feel them. Do not ask me why we choose to go with such a dreary emotions that send our spirits on a downward spiral. I would answer, anyway.

I think it is because pain is something we all can relate to. From the bite of a mosquito, to the scrap of a knee, the sprain of an ankle, the death of a dear one, the abandonment of a lover. At some point, we have all felt pain. The greatest art pieces are called the greatest, only because they are relatable. You love a song because you can understand the singer and writer's emotions behind the notes and the lyrics, so you put it in replay and hear it over and over again, that it no longer just speaks to your soul, it becomes your tale. Since we all know what pain is, I guess that is why we write so much about it. That way, we speak to you. The real you that no one else sees- perhaps a few. The you you wear a mask everyday, to cover, the you who is only void of the façade when you're in a corner, alone. It's these moments we speak to. This pieces. And because you seldom let the light shine on those dark places, the words which pierce through, hit home more than they should.

Perhaps, we only write sad tales because they resonate. A movie that made you cry, caused you to think deeply about your life and its choices, lingers longer than a romcom which made you laugh and 'awww' all through. You would probably remember these movies once in a while as great ones- but the sad, 'deep' ones, you carry a piece of them in your hearts forever.

They say happiness is free, and that you can wake up one day and choose to be happy. That's the biggest pile of B.S I have ever heard. Falling will always be easier than climbing. Sadness is a pit, dark, with trendils which will curl up around you and threaten to hold you in place. It's so much easier to let go, take the free fall, sink deeper into that place of sunken abyss, dark gloominess, the kind that comes with eerie, false comforting music. The hard work, is climbing out, cutting off those trendils and struggling to reach the top, that glimpse of light you aren't even sure is real anymore. Happiness isn't free! The best things in life are not.

We must struggle daily, to keep our smile on, to make sure our troubles do not overwhelm us, to focus on the little things that make all the difference. The beautiful sunrise, the smile of a little child, the smell of rain in the air, the greetings of a loved one. Creation and the painful details included by the creator. The wonder of the sparrows and of the ants.

As appealing and easy as falling is, we must resist its allure! We must continue to climb. Practise they say, makes perfect. It gets easier. Just like gyming. And when you don't feel the wear so much anymore, you go longer laps, higher reps, more sets, till you get to the top. For all of our sakes, I do hope we do. The sight from that point is very beautiful, after all. Totally worth it, every sweat, every strain. Every fall! There are days when you would slip, struggle to hold on, only to hit rock bottom. That's fine, just... Never stop trying to climb back up to the top. On this journey, there are people who will hold your hand, you only need to say. And some day, when you get up there, more will look up at you, and see that it can be done.

Interesting, your words. Poetry tends to be a sad affair for me but I don't think it is always so. You are correct about those movies that linger forever. They are mostly the sad ones. #bigwaves
