Tiger Stripes, a Litter Solution

• Tiger Stripes will cover a certain neighborhood on the apps map, designating this as an area of focus for the Trash Tigers.
• Trash Tigers are a volunteer network of residents dedicated to picking up litter.
• Trash Tiger Tokens will be used to vote on what neighborhood gets the Tiger Stripes next.
• The neighborhood with the most Trash Tiger Tokens on Saturday night will host a Sunday Trash Tiger cleanup event, and will wear the Tiger Stripes for the following week.

Trash Tigers was cofounded by Vic and his niece. They are joined by a core group of volunteers who pick up trash around town. It is hoped that scores of individuals will soon step up to the rank of Trash Tiger, and we also hope to leverage this goodwill to form a strong working partnership with the City.
The problem we are addressing is easy to point out, all that needs to be done is to step out the door, or look out the window. There is a lot of litter around us! The solution is simple, we pick it up and dispose of it properly. There isn’t much competition out there, although of course we welcome all the help we can get. As we expand we want to examine the root causes of this litter, and address these at their source, while continuing our original function of picking up trash.

Here are some examples of possible problem/solution pairings:

• Trash flies away when the trash truck’s claw is dumping the bin, so an educational campaign can get the word out that trash needs to be bagged before being placed in the bin.
• Raccoons and other animals are opening the bins and spreading trash around, so we can work with the animal control department to find solutions, or maybe even look into a different type of bin.
• Bins are overfilled, causing lids to not close, and the wind blows the trash out or knocks the bins over; again, good bagging practices and using the proper type bin will help, but we feel disposal capacity should never be a barrier in our city’s trash cycle, so funds will be used, and our partnership with the city applied, to make sure every last piece of trash has a place to go.

Trash Tiger Tokens will be based in Ethereum smart contracts, and will be used via a phone app.
