Hello Yogis! New and old ones! (and non-yogis too).
Lately I've been experiencing neck and shoulder pain and guess who the culprit is?
You got it...my phone!
So I am currently doing a "phone fasting" as I call it, meaning no more bending my head forward and no more raising my shoulders for a while.
Computer is OK as my arms are resting on my desk and my neck is in a semi-neutral position :-) (so no need to PANIC!)

If the pain is experienced at the base of your neck -right or left- and runs from there down to your shoulder but only affects that straight line or strip that connects those two and doesn't spread to your middle back or shoulder-blade area then that's you!

As you can see in the video, the muscle that's usually affected by you checking your social media accounts all day long is one or both of your Levator Scapulae muscles.
These muscles connect the first four vertebrae of your neck (also known as cervical spine) to your right and left scapulae (also known as shoulder blades) and are responsible for lifting your shoulders.
Holding your phone and bending your neck forward for long periods of time will seriously affect them so practice these stretches multiple times daily, try resting your arms on a table as you type so you don't over-stress your Levator Scapulae muscles, keep your chin parallel to the floor and good luck!!
