GIVE BACK EVENT WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL, THANK YOU STEEMIT. YOU DID IT AGAIN.

in #youarehope6 years ago (edited)

For the whole of  Last week, i tried raising funds for a cause that is close to my heart.  A cause to celebrate my birthday with the  children battling Cancer at everlasting hope center, as they were also celebrating their second year anniversary since the center started. It was at a very short notice that i started raising funds for this and to be honest, i had lost hope. Steemit is not the easiest place to do a fundraiser, especially when you are a Plankton . Also its a thing that people frown at, for the fact that a lot of people do fundraisers for selfish self growth . I honestly did not know that until last week when i read it on comments.  So i made sure i did things right, and cashed out all earnings from the fundraiser including steem and steem power (i added my own steem to cover up for the steem power).

With the help of @fernwehninja, i was able to cash out exactly P1,185 pesos, which is $22.18 after the charges.

This was way below the goal, but better little than  nothing  right?  on the list of the things needed by the center were house supplies. For the amount received from steemit, i would be able to buy at least 20kilos of rice.

Rice?? why rice? you would ask. Well it is a staple food in the Philippines, rice is used for everything here. Somebody once jokes that "A Filipino without rice, is like Bruno without Mars", its that serious. So with the amount i got, rice was the best thing to get them.

Well, since my Birthday, the stars have been aligned in my favor, and i am ready to walk in their light. few days to the event, i contacted some of the core leaders of the @steemph.cebu and they did not seize to support.  more of that on my net post.

Also, my friend who got my back like a Bra strap @cheft, and another who is equally special showed love to me in ways that i cannot imagine. I was humbled. and because of their generosity, i was able to get waayyy  more than the 20kg bad of rice.

Here is what we managed to get.

  • 20kgs of rice
  • powder detergent
  • dish washing liquid
  • pain patches
  • hand sanitizers
  • bathing soap
  • bucket of crackers
  • powdered milk

@fernwehninja @gratefulayn @iamqueenlevita were more than generous to buy playing materials for the kids  out  of their pockets. God bless these ladies because they gave them selves up for the cause whole heartedly. I am more than grateful to these power ladies.

Its so happened that our @steemph.cebu leader, @jassennessaj was celebrating his birthday the following day , and he also saw this as an opportunity to give back. He bough 50 burgers for us all in attendance. the children, their parents, staff and volunteers were all blessed by his generosity.

This ended up being a great day, way more than i was anticipating.

To the people that i have mentioned above, and to the following who boosted my fundraiser, God bless you guys real good. @surpassinggoogle, @maverickinvictus @bayanihan and the rest of the @steemgig discord team, this little event was a success because of you. @angelacs , you may not know it , but you lift me up. your comments to my posts are what i always look forward too .

Thank you , thank you, thank you all so much.

The kids at Everlasting hope say a big Thanks to you.

And made little cards in Appreciation.

so touching. Stay blessed.

Amenn, May God bless us all maam. Keep shining in his love. ❤❤❤

Appreciated on how you are helping my fellow Filipinos. Rice is somewhat a cheap yet effective filler in our tummy. Although I don't know where it started for our love of rice but I think we adapted to it and not influenced on some western country.

I have noticed its a south East Asian thing, but i am not sure if they all would love rice as much as Pinoys do.. Hehehe, we need to look back in the history. Hope you are having a great day friend.
