Be your own bodyguard: Krav Maga
Sometimes, I become so fixated with my routine, that I fail to learn about new thngs.
I recently read @battleaxe's articles here and here on Krav Maga, which were all new (to me, anyway)!
I wanted to know more. So last Saturday I checked out a Krav Maga place located in a nearby city.
I am now thinking of abandoning my regular gym routine and enroll in Krav Maga.

Learning self defense is important for a woman in this world. If you are going to work out anyway, smart to do it in a way that will teach you important skills for your own safety. Better know it and not ever needing it than the need it and not know it. I did martial arts for a little bit as a child it has served me well. Good luck on learning your new skills! xox
My son will most certainly go into Krav Maga and if I had a daughter it probably would have been mandatory for her to do it!

Yes, I think it should be mandatory for daughters. If only I could tell you my stories!
There are some really bad men out there. I have a female friend who had a boyfriend that was living with her who wound up going to jail for trying to lure an underage girl online. Needless to say, she kicked him out once she found out what was going on.

Growing up, my parents saw the value of attending martial arts classes particularly karate and judo, so they made sure my two brothers and I, as a kid, attended martial arts classes during the summer. Judo because they wanted us to have some experience in grappling with another person. As an adult, due to circumstances, I took to guns, and I make sure I attend gun training classes at regular intervals and go to the shooting range when I can.

I'm familiar with this technique, a very practical form of self defense. While at the Japanese cultural center I was enquiring restarting Akido but I have to make the time.

Gym is fine, even when there are many people around I can be alone with my music and my routine and get exercise. I've had a great many hours of fruitful brainstorming ideas and plans, even pray while in the gym. I observed the classes and as expected there is a lot of interaction, screaming (which is part of the exercise... using your voice). I love the workout routine that I saw.

Krav Maga is great! I did it over the winter a few years back and I was quite impressed. It was way better than karate. I want to get back into it. I may even put my son into it next summer!

That is great to know. It seems that everyone to have good reviews about Krav Maga. And I do like the workout routine I saw when I visited. Nothing fancy, very forceful... it does notlook pretty, lol! You know... not like the karate type of dances/katas
