My Actifit Report Card: April 13 2019
Today I worked on my taxes. Kathy my Red Eared Slider provided moral support. Her tank is in my home office. When I'm working she hangs in the corner of the tank near me.
I didn't finish them today, I still have a few days to complete them. This year I get an extra day because I live in Massachusetts. April 15th is Patriots Day and Marathon Monday.
I dropped off my last set of taxes this afternoon, saved the worst for last! I worked for a CPA and did income taxes for a few years, so now I'm the designated tax preparer for my kids, my brother, and neice and nephew. I'm sick of them now.... (the taxes I mean, not the relatives, lol)
Lol, I'm in the same boat, I do them for my family and a few friends. I practiced tax law for a few years after graduating from law school. I will end up filing extensions for a few family members this year.

Wow, tax law - I'm impressed! I ran my own tax return service for a few years, but I had the office in my house, and I got tired of the constant parade.

I guess tax issues are handled differently in different countries. Here if you're working it's normally removed from your monthly pay and remitted to the government, if they wait for us to do it the way you guys are doing it then they'll need to convert halve our country into jail houses 😂😂😂 cause no one has time for that. I say remove you're tax yourself & let me be.😂😂😂

Taxes are withheld from pay checks here too. But they also tax other income that comes from other sources (investment, property rental or sales, Steem and SBD earned from post, just to name a few.) Some income can be offset by credits and deductions (cost and other expenses.)
People comply because the are often owed a refund and if you owe and fail to pay the interest and penalties are a killer. The will also seize your assets.

People who are accountants must be making a hell of money in your country. Do you ha VAT (value added tax)? You guys are really working for your government. 😂😂😂

Yes, accounts are very busy this time of year, raking in the dough! The United States doesn't do VAT. At the state level, many states impose a sales or use tax that is direct tax on the retail price of the product.
