Evil magpie returns, cat on a broomstick & Actifit

For once, posting an early actifit rather than leaving it to be done just before midnight strikes.

It was a lazy day. I passed over my iPad to my twins and let them play with Procreate. This is a drawing application on iPad that is geared for adults, but my 8 y.o children are picking it up with no problems. One of the twins figured out by herself how to make custom brushes and was teaching me today. She was too busy playing with the features to finish a drawing. The above image was done by my other daughter. I liked how she said to me in her overly serious voice: “You can post it to steemit, mummy.”

I guess I better oblige! lol

Previously, I wrote about my nemesis, the swooping magpie that hit me (post here). His home is at the start of my regular route that I like for its convenience. So I decided to run it today, I thought I’d brave the evil magpie. But unlike many times before, I remembered him. I armed myself with a stick and then I proceeded onwards cautiously. I was kinda side running and waving the branch gently over my head. I’m sure I looked a bit silly, but who cares, I was honestly scared—more so than I’d expected. As I said, he’d never actually hit me before until that last time.

I scanned up at the canopy of the trees and he didn’t seem to be about. So I wondered if he was out doing whatever it is that birds do, hunting worms or maybe hanging out in his nest with his family. Surely the bird couldn’t be on guard all the time, and like humans, he had a life too right?

Apparently, not!

I looked away for only a second and he appeared mid-swoop, wings splayed as he flew down in an aggressive arc! It was terrifying how he attacked at first opportunity. And since I caught him dive bombing me, he immediately aborted. Here is a picture of him where he landed.

He attempted again, but had to abort because I was expecting him and waving my stick madly. Here he is in tree two:

Once I reached the safety zone, I spoke to an old lady walking her little dog as I passed. “Aggressive magpie ahead. Be careful! It might just be me he hates, but he swoops and is a real problem.”

She turned back around without a word. lol

I’m going to have to reroute this much-loved run until summer hits. He’s such a menace the way he tenaciously stalks me from tree to tree, looking for an opening. Being engaged in a battle with a bird is just not the best way to start a run to clear your mind.

So I guess the bird wins!
