In most of the cases, the back pain are kind of acute musculoskeletal type pain which is self limiting. Simple pain killers (tablets and ointment) and avoid doing heavy works (weight lifting, bending forward etc) for few days ( e.g 1 week) are sufficient for most of the cases. I tell them to follow these.

Sitting long time is another causes of LBP in sedentary worker. Taking a regular break and having a short walk around are necessary in such cases. More simpler pain killers like Paracetamol might help something. Otherwise need little stronger pain killers.
In some cases, need stretching exercise of the lower back
