My Application on getting a full accepted member of the VTNÖ Austrian Nature and Animal Photography Club

This weekend i visited the Meeting of the best Austrian Nature and Wildlifephotographers in Spital am Pyhrn. It was a nice day meeting new photographers as well as some i already knew. I saw so many inspirations and nice pictures that day so i decided to aplicate for being a full member of the photography club. Therefore i had to choose from 15 pictures i did in the past representing nature and wildlife. I consider these 15 pictures suitable. The challenge on this aplication is not to edit pictures with photoshop or another sofware. So these picture are out of cam results.

For the first picture i choosed the picture of the ringed plover i shot in Helgoland this spring. Because i think it is a pretty seldom bird and i was able to get a nice shot of it. And i know that i put a lot of effort in the picture and that i was pretty lucky to get such a nice closeup picture of this seldom bird.

For the second picture i chose this picture of these two loving northern gannets also from helgoland. I think it is a pretty nice and harmonic picture of these birds in love. And although it was pretty easy go get close to these birds getting me this picture took me some efforts because my camera was pretty new this time and i still had to learn different settings to improve my photography.

At lake neusiedler i did a lot of photography and we really had luck to shoot so many pictures of different birds and other animal living there so i also chose a picture of these for my application. I also chose other pictures from the fox and another bird from the holiday at lake neusiedler. It was such an amazing adventure for me and i really came home with some nice picture that fit for these purpose i think.

Also the lovely hamsters i photographed in April this year can't be missing in this enumaration. They where so cute that i realy had to use a picture of them. Of course i also couldn't forget the nice pictures of the ground squirrels i did this year so i had to use also one of them for the aplication. I didn't visit them as often as last year but this year i really did some great pictures of them and i had so much fun with it. I am so happy i found this really great hobby where i can experiment so much and you never know if you are coming home with some great pictures or don't get any pictures at all. But when i se the results i am always amazed. The Sigma 150-600 mm lens i my favorite lens because you can really get so much closer to the animals and the pictures look so much more interesting.

Also the picture of the fox i met at the lake Neusiedler this spring was part of my selection. It was such an lucky encounter and i think i was able to get a really nice picture of it. My visit to this lake in spring this year was so good that i plan to visit it next year in spring definitely several times. Maybe i will also drive to Hungary for some photography. Especially for Bird Photography this place is really amazing but also other mammals can be found there.

Howdy from Texas florian-glechner! what amazing shots! How long before you know if you get accepted to the club?
These are remarkable photos and I know you got some of them at Lake Neusiedler but for many of the shots do you have to wait in a spot and not move for a long time in order to get good shots?

This is a wonderful post and with these shots I'm sure you'll get in!

We'll see. Thank you for the flowers. Yes waiting for several hours in one spot is not seldom. But as a nature photographer this is your duty. And camouflage always helps when waiting, because in most of the cases it is necessary that the animals don't even know that you are here waiting for them. Lake Neusiedler in Austria is a nice place for Bird photography because the birds visit it in spring and autum when they travel from south to north and vis versa.

howdy again florian-glechner! oh how interesting, I didn't know that nature photographers dressed up in camouflage. And they have to have great patience too! very interesting, thank you!

Hi florian-glechner,

Really interesting the photo of the hamster; they are very perceptive animals and under any disturbance they automatically hide and you managed to capture one quite clearly.

Congratulations for your photos and I hope they accept you in the club ; )

Thank you very much, we will See.

Beautiful animal photos! They look like pictures I would have seen in calendars or photography books, really nice and high quality :D.

Congratulations for your curie vote :).

Oh thank you, i still need to improove my Photography a bit before doing a calendar, but i'll do my best this next year.

How many years have you been on photography Florian?
All the photos are beautiful and great!
I guess you have a long years of experience?

Anyways, congrats on your @curie upvote!
You made it man!

I have several years of experience, difficult to say when i exactly started to do it in a more professional way. I think one important date was when i received my first DSLR in 2013. But doing it a bit more professional with hiding and waiting for the animals to show up, maybe when i started to make several Photography trips with other photography friends in the last 2-3 years.

Oh!
Thank you for your response!
You're earning for a living doing photography?
I hope you do what you're doing to inspire more people to do the same especially on your skill and talent.
Good luck!

I'm really afraid of Australia for its animal diversity, but in this case I felt comfortable to observe the variety of birds and rodents you've brought.

i am a naturalist photographer my telephoto lens an old rokinon 70-200 that stays behind in your powerful 150-600 i see it performs well and doesn't leave you bad when it comes to making those imapctant portraits. i am forced to expose myself a little to the animals so many birds have gone without even clicking the shutter :(

I notice that you move through openings of 6 and 5 is the maximum aperture, I am aware that the evil of telephoto lenses are the steps of diaphragm scarce they have.

I love the bokeh if all the frames you have made in each of your photographs. are very clear and I think they fulfilled their purpose at the right time. great job friend.

I'm already following you.

greetings and thank you for sharing

Pictures are not from australia but from Austria/Europe. Yes the 150-600mm lens is a powerful lens and i love it really much.

One can see that you are a professional. These photos don't need any post processing. All of them are crisp, the colors are fantastic and the light is spot on. I hope that your application was approved. Actually, I'm certain it was approved as those photos are brilliant. My favorite photo is the one of the hamster. Looks at this cute curious eyes and those fluffy cheeks :) Adorable! Number two would be red backed shrike. Its position on the grass is great. You were very lucky with this one. And even the grass is sharp. How do you do it?! :) I'm so bad with animal photography. I can't even capture an animal that is posing in front of me waiting for me to take that shot :D I'm much better with landscapes :)

Thank you for sharing and congratulations to your curie vote!

Thank you very much, i am still learning but since i am already taking pictures with a professional aproach some time i get better and better. Yes the Hamsters are pretty nice but also shy.
