You must open this post, read it and the give me a full 100% vote

in #antipost5 years ago (edited)

A few week ago I was in Ireland visiting my brother and we went to Cork. Cork is a small town very close to some Cliffs just outside of Dublin. This is a foto I took when I was there.

In here let's just include my travelfeed info, steemitworldmap, actifit or any other Dapp.

Then, I'll just link you to my previous posts. Posts that look just exactly like this one and you shall click them and vote them.

Sort:
What? Did you really think that was it? That I expected you to give my post a full vote just because I am me, and because I took 10 minutes out of my precious time to post, time that Icould've used to brainlessly browse my Instagram Feed?

Well no. I've shitposted before, not much - at least according to my standards - perhaps no more than 5 shitposts in my whole Steem life, but I try not to do it too often. I avoid shitposting due to several reasons: I have some automatic votes; some people vote for the person and not the content; I have a reputation to mantain - lol? -; I know that people won't care about opening my posts if I constantly post low quality crap.

Oh but hey, quality is subjective, right? Who am I to tell you if your post is good enough or not. I can only judge myself and the quality of my posts, right? Well, wrong. We are in a social media platform where your posts are put out there to be judged by everyone who cares enough to check out what you have to say and then, after a biased judgement, decide if you/me/him deserve a full vote on our posts.

But let's be honest about this. I believe we can all agree on the subjective topic that is high quality. Yeah, it is subjective but I dare saying 99% of the users of any social media, can agree on determining if a post is at least good or if it's a shitty one. On Steem, you have curators. People who are supposedly - I say supposedly to not generalize, not because I doubt on the quality of other curators out there - experienced on determining the quality of a post on an unbiased, impartial way and thus, deciding if any given post deserves high rewards.

I guess my whole point here is: At the moment, there is a lot of Steem Power available to manually curate; the bid bots are almost dead and everyone became a curator now. I am manually curating with arguably one of the accounts that hold the most Steem Power at the moment and all I can tell you is Please, if you are posting to get engagement on your posts, receive middle to high tier rewards and getting better at this social media game called Steem, stop making posts like the one I made today.

If you are looking to get attention from whales, curators or big time engagers, this is not the way to do it.

Why am I saying this? Because I've spent a lot of time reading posts saying that Steem is rigged, the small user has no chance, the big players are the only ones earning through post payouts and more arguments around this line. Who's saying this? You guessed correctly: Shitposters.

Well, if you are looking to get rewards, engagement votes and followers. Don't be like me. Don't post a meh picture with 4-5 lines of text and expect the big bucks.

If on the contrary, you use Steem as a diary or a nice hobby - which is totally fine - and you don't care about the rewards or the engagement because all you want is to store your thoughts on the blockchain for your grandkids, then that's perfect, please be my guest and post however the hell you want to. I know we won't be reading your rants about how NewSteem is still like the OldSteem and the voting behaviour is still bullshit.

I have news for you. If you are not getting votes now, exactly now that the available voting power for curation is at an all time high... you are making shitty content.

Steem changed, manual curation is a thing again, it's just that your shitty content stayed back at old steem. Your content needs an extreme makeover.

Geez. What a comment wall.

I know right, FFS these people expecting Steemians to read comments longer than 17 words. Delusional at best.

Voted the comment, considered flagging the post but I'll just express my gratitude for hiding your message. I'll pass on upvoting the post, though it's a pretty picture..

I'm not a big fish here but I've been getting some auto votes and good rewards with the new steem and all so I feel the same way about not posting garbage.. Amazing what social pressures can accomplish for the non sociopaths among us lol..

The picture is nice but I'm not a photographer. I know a good photographer could make a great post out of three pics, but that's not me so I get your point.

Oh, speak for yourself, I'm the biggest sociopath out there :P

follow me back follow

I am curated comments more actively now 🤷‍♀️ Don’t shit comment dude.. I’m watching 😉 Maybe I should advertise a comment curation trail.

Great points made, I agree. Post what you like but don’t bitch if you shit post and get no comments.. clearly no one likes your shit.

Oh, there's a comment curation trail in the Spanish community and it's soooooo spammy it hurts hahaha.

Exactly, do what you want, just don't whine about the results you're getting.

If on the contrary, you are creating amazing content and you're still not getting the rewards you want/think you deserve, then look at it this way: You're currently posting during the time where there's the most available Steem Power dedicated to manual curation.

The curation groups and whales out there manually curating will eventually find your content.

Please, continue creating high quality posts on #NewSteem.

Dude! I almost downvoted... then I saw the comment 😉🤣

Don't think I've ever shitposted once on here. Looks like I'm in good company.

Posted using Partiko Android

It sure does deserve a downvote by itself :P I wouldn't have blamed you or hold it against you if you would've!

It sure does deserve a downvote

Ha ha. No way mate. It was a clever way to make a point. And honestly, some shit posters might click on it and be all set to make an angry comment then they see that the post is actually written in the comments section and maybe it makes them think about putting some effort into their content.

This was a classic #sndbox antipost. I miss sndbox to be honest, and not just because of the support. I might try to think up an antipost of my own today or tomorrow as it's been a while since I posted.

Lies. Steemhunt posts are neglected. Not mine. Many others. Quality doesn’t mean quantity. :)

Wish I get to know the timing as well...🙃

I try to post right before morning in the US so they see my post when they wake up, also Europe is eating at that time so they might read it during lunch and East Asia is still awake browsing in bed 🤷🏻‍♀️

Iol... you're still making more with that post than most of my posts combined...

I started posting content never seen on Steem more than two years ago and that helped me get a follower base and at the same time some whales attention. It's not about where we are right now but what we've done to achieve it. Also, I got lucky, very lucky 😅

You almost tricked me! It does make more sense after reading this comment. No upvote for this post from me sorry :-)

Damn, for a moment I thought I had you, I was counting on that vote :P

Full vote done here. The above is just way too shitpost to an extend I almost flag it 😂

Posted using Partiko Android

It truly is, I wouldn't hold it on you if you flagged :P

You are absolutely right!
is anybody here? :D
ooh, somebody is here! how nice :)

Thanks for agreeing that my post was crap! :P hahaha

sorry 🤷‍♀😂

Just kidding :)

I was daring to "Downvote" 100% before getting into the comment section....😎 You are safe now 😉

Post was good. Comment is boring :)

I know right, so many letters and no nice images :(

Ahah!! Fair enough!! I didn't vote the post, but your comment instead ;)

You have highlighted some common dilemmas which we are collectively facing right now

Sometimes some posts receive below par engagement but still the authors invoke 3rd party upvote and reward their own posts and actually same category of people claim that reward pool is limited that we should utilize it more precisely (which I do agree with). Sometimes people make fishy accounts beneficiary of their posts which were originally supposed to redistribute rewards. One example do came into my mind is 'Steem Fantasy Premier League'.

I must admit you have made some great points.

And meanwhile I was wondering if you’d accidentally truncated your post but I think all front ends have edit ability now 😆

Oh it's happened to me before, especially with busy. I write a huge post and you know how busy saves your post every now and then? Well, I hit "post" and it turns out busy saves the post halfway... And then I have to write it again when it's already live. Let it be said, the post quality drops significantly when you rewrite something, it loses some of its original magic don't you think?

Depends on what you're writing. For freewrites it's definitely the best when it's raw :) Other things need heaps of rewriting/editing/polishing. Long as you're happy with it in the end XD

I haven't used busy for quite a while now, that sounds really annoying D: I always thought things were supposed to just post what was in the text box when you hit publish or whatever the button is called on whatever interface one is using not whatever the last saved version was but what do I know about anything functional XD

Lol, I did wonder if that was it before the comments!

Nice post

What a strike! Hehe

Ahaha got ya there :P

The only thing I can do is create is I ibrate with the content creation, I in had time to say shit about this, I'm blessed that this page appeared, if you're a creator you had stories to tell.

It seems to work, though, nice payout so far!

By the way, I fully agree with the point you're making (in your comment). It reminds me of a short but very poignant statement I remember hearing from an old hip-hop group. Let me see if I can find it...
It's Act Won from the Thing Fall Apart album by The Roots. Check it out if you're not familiar with it:

Next thing, you're going to start telling us what color M&Ms you want in the green room. Prima donna!

Oh, you're an M&M guy? I prefer Skittles and I prefer dark rooms hahaha.

Okay, yes to all this. But also, I love the photograph of Ireland. I've always wanted to visit to see that exact kind of view—the cliffs and the ocean. So lovely.

I hope you are well. (((hugs)))

I've been saying it for days... Steem has changed! A good change! A hopeful change!

It indeed has changed! I'm happy to see how it has evolved over the past few months

To be frank, I was disappointed when I saw the post. Attracted by the subject--Cork. My father-in-law came from there and I was looking forward to seeing some pictures. My daughter visited there with my granddaughter last year, kind of a heritage tour.
I'm relieved to see your comment. Nice lure, good lesson. No I didn't upvote you :) But please, I would enjoy seeing nice pictures of Cork, with information.

Holy crap, I was about to be like "WTF is this post, man?" in the comments here. It seems like there's a lot of posts out there that are just exactly this and then 10,000 links of crap to follow them on.

You. You caught me off-guard and I like it. Good job my friend. Should I upvote the comment instead? you clearly spent far more time on that ;P

That's the thing, exactly that. Someone comes up with an amazing title and a thumbnail image that kicks ass and you - as manual curator or just normal steemian - think *Oh yes, this will be a great post, can't wait to read it a curate the shit out of it *.... you open it and BAM, a three liner with a picture that sometimes is not even theirs :P

Oh, didn't you read? It's supposed to be a 100% and it should be on the post :P :P :P

Pretty much every time I'm looking at posts man. It's more often than not. Either that or it's a video I'm probably not going to watch with zero text.

I dont think the people for cork will be happy to hear you said it was a small town. They fancy themselves a large city 😂😂😂 and you can to Ireland and we didn't hook up...nice...I will skip the vote on the post so and get straight to your comment.

Which in essence I fully agree with. I had to hold my self back from shitposting this week. I had nothing of value to share and would rather post less then than tarnish my rep.

The closest I can come to shitposts are my gaming streams/recordings...not because I feel they’re shitty but there’s just something deep in my soul that feels wrong about gaming and then making real money from it. I probably blame a generation of old fucks for traumatizing my psyche with “...what do you think you’re going to do? Get PAID to play video games?!”. I do think of my blog as a endless record of my life so I do think of it as a whole. If I only have enough time or energy to write a shitpost, I just don’t post that day. It’s kind of an OCD.

Gosh, I was just thinking: 'This is not the @anomadsoul that I know, someone must have stolen his account!' when I read your comment LOL. Glad you're still with us in your usual form. Great way to get your message across though. :)

I'm really glad that you think I'm don't use to post like this, I would be worried if you told me "oh but this is just your normal posting with" hahaha.

I hope you are doing great! Yes, still here, posting a bit less but hoping to get back on track!

@anomadsoul,
Calling 100% for this content lol :D
!trendovoter 100

Cheers~

This post's votes does make you wonder if people are really manually curating, doesn't it? And most of these guys are posting about how everyone should curate manually, well that is the way things are. I think you can see that a post's quality has mostly nothing to do with what rewards it gets, it's just who you know that matters, I think this was a good test you put here, and I do believe the results were what was expected.

It can lead you to think that way, yes. Some of the voters' names in here are usually on every post of mine, on the other hand, some others I see them very sporadically, so I guess I'd say this post rewards are half and half.

We can't avoid voting for the person and not the content, it's a normal behaviour when a creator has their audience used to certain post quality and engagement, the problem comes when people abuse this autovoters and drop their posts quality.

On the third hand (is that a thing?) you almost never comment on my posts (I remember you dropping by to some a few months ago) but this time you dropped by, I guess the title fulfilled its purpose with you and some others, it encouraged engagement on the post which is something that tbh is lacking on my posts recently.

Who knows, perhaps some people voted after reading the comment, perhaps most of them didn't even opened the post 🤷🏻‍♀️

You see to me the problem is that somebody who has a big vote say ten dollars at what Steem is worth right now, and he decides to give a general 20% vote, I really don't believe anyone is going to read over 50 Steemit posts and decide which ones deserve to be voted on, so I think the manual curation idea is really not that very well thought out. By the way I commented after I had read the post and the comments, I actually don't upvote because I have very little SP and I use it just for posts that also tag some SE tribes as I do have some decent VP in some of them.
