Geez, I honestly hadn't heard this at all... I did see images of the suburban flooding as you mentioned, but had no idea.

Australia's exposure to weather events is super worrying, especially given the majority of the population is just in 5/6 cities.

Sort:

There is a little bit of news filtering though; from farming journals https://www.fwi.co.uk/news/weather/up-to-500000-cattle-die-in-catastrophic-australian-floods and EcoWatch https://www.ecowatch.com/about-500-000-cattle-feared-dead-after-historic-queensland-floods-2628662464.html .

They are about the polar opposites of the political spectrum those papers; but it seems only the fringe media reporting it properly.

The Betoota Avocate is reporting it also lol

Yes; very little media but it is one of the biggest floods in the history of Australia. If no one is dying no one cares it seems; same as my post about the fires in Tassie destroying 1000 year old forests.

I have family up there who run cattle stations (and missed the floods as they are on the tablelands) but I have seen the extent of it from the qld weather chasing groups I follow on facebook.
