I'm Back!

in #art6 years ago

Taking a break can be refreshing. Yes, I did actually manage to escape the studio for a while, but more about that later.

I had a great reference for this drawing that was just begging to be committed to paper. I may also even venture to render it in paint. But I'm working working on other things before then.

What I liked about this reference was the play of light across the various muscle groups on the back which is then accentuated by curve. The human figure can position itself in many forms, but find ones that are visually interesting are crucial for engaging figurative works. A good model and good lighting are essential foundations in achieving this outcome. There are good models and then there are potatoes.

I see you pulled it off!!
The muscles, the light, the shadows...everything is so strongly depicted here.
An of course those arms and hands of yours that speak so much!
It's wonderful!! :)

Tip!

Thank you Ruth!

potatoes ___ XD lol,

fantastic job! that is certainly a carot .. xP
welcome back! :)

Cheers @kingyus! Vegetables belong in the pot, not on the easel... unless it is a still life. =)

hehe I like them boiled with a pinch of salt and a drop of olive oil :D ...

I agree with your choice of serving. Delicious! =)

great figure art. Awesome details

wow really gorgeous value study - looking forward to seeing more of your work (and currently perusing your blog...)

Thank you @derosnec! =)
There's more work coming along soon. The next one will be a painting. Watch this space...

I will indeed!

I love the detail!

Great execution and technique to create a beautiful image.

muy buena esta pieza, las proporciones son perfectas!

I like the concept, really good job.

WOW, great job Leo! I find a back particularly difficult and I rarely see one painted with such excellence.. like all the rest too, of course.

Was great seeing you in Vienna. Well, Wiener Neustadt I should say. Too bad you had to catch that train.. Karin was still very weak the next day and we didn't do much, except for seeing the kids in the evening. Missed you at Dreamscapes yesterday. Opening was really spectacular!

We couldn't find an easy solution for travelling to Traun and then our return without staying overnight. All in all the time and expense really didn't make sense, especially since we'd only be visitors. Sounds like you had a good time. All the best with the show! =)

I understand. Its always a lot of money for the few hours of the actual event. One reason I haven't gone to the Libellule openings in France for a long time.

We did the trip to Austria, because we could be at the two openings within 2 days. Went home Thursday night, as Karin had to be at her café again Friday morning..

Such is life of the self-employed.

I used to travel here and there all over Europe to visit these shows, as you might recall. But I feel my time is better invested in staying at home and creating more artwork. The artwork speaks better for me as an artist than me trying to be noticed at other people's exhibitions.

truly amazing!!! 😲😲😲
