Art Studio Upgraded with New Walls

in #art5 years ago (edited)

Last week we spent a couple of days building some walls for Amanda's art studio. Right now it has a kind of a funny theme going on since she painted a bunch of ravens for an Edgar Allan Poe exhibit a while back.

I just wanted to post a few pictures of what we ended up doing with it.

I built this large white wall, basically with 2x4s and plywood, then painted it white. I felt kind of silly because I didn't have a roller and was too lazy to go get one at home depot, so I used a medium/large sized brush which took me way too long.

Right now all it has on it is this colored pencil sketch of me that Amanda created last year. I am starting to thing that I need to build a couple more walls because the studio space doesn't have the best shape to hang things on the actual walls.

These are a couple of abstract pieces that she did. Unfortunately the photos aren't the best; it was midnight when I took the photos and the room lights are really just set up for viewing in person.

I will try to take some better ones with my DSLR. The one on the right is actually pretty wild looking. It reminds me of something David Lynch would come up with. Can you see the large hand?

I managed to get all of the ravens onto one wall. That was a bit of a challenge. All I had was a really rickety ladder, some screws and a drill. That's why they are a bit crooked. I will have to bring a level over and sort this out before the show next month.

This wall, with hinges, I didn't actually build. Someone in the building was throwing it away so we took it. It was completely covered in cobwebs and completely black. It took a few hours to clean and paint, but I think it's working out nicely.

I didn't bother painting the backside. I suppose no one will really see it. Maybe I will if I get some free time. It has been crazy around here this weekend! We decided to move into another apartment just upstairs. I have hurt my back pretty badly and am hoping that I can get it all done by monday!

These were just some fun little abstract pieces that Amanda made the other day. She was trying to figure out something fun to do with little canvases and this is what she came up with.

Well, I have to get back to moving, which I am dreading! We have to move a grand piano and some really heavy furniture. Wish me luck!

PS - Check out this chair that another artist in our building made. It is made completely of paper, apart from the wheels, which are made of metal. This thing looks awesome!

Really cool studio. And your girl has massive art skills. Congrats on constructing this galley :)

Thanks! I am exhausted between this, and moving house.

Beautiful wife, beautiful art-- you're surrounded by beauty. Maybe you can auction some of her paintings on steem. Since we are doing just about anything on the platform, we can as well sell stuff.

And the chair is freaking surreal, amazing!

I know! I love that chair. We were just over there this afternoon moving some things. I took some pictures of more chairs and things made out of paper. I am going to do a post about it. They also had a really cool exhibit with large structures made from only buttons.

And thanks for the compliments! Amanda is a great person. I am lucky to have her by my side.

I know that you will not get jealous if I give credit to Amanda for this beautiful art ,hehe 😂 I'm just kidding ,@coolguy222

That is fine with me! It is all her work. I am just the grunt with a hammer.

Amanda really is a talented artist Sir @nuthman and maybe you can find her some stall where she can sell her paintings or maybe even online :D

Well, hopefully that is what the gallery is for; selling the artwork. We open the studio twice a month to the public. We shall see how it goes!

I like your portrait Sir tho, it is a timeless heirloom piece.

I like the painting of the ballerina's feet👠

Yeah, me too. Yesterday she added the splattering dust effect which I think really finished it off.

@nuthman the room is really decorated well man. The photo of the man with long hair ... Is it you ? 😅

I also remember those crows from your early posts... Those r looking cool ✌

Amanda is seriously a great artist! Hope she will do even better in future.
