Jupiler

I have not talked about beer yet but since I am Belgian and this drink is present in all parties and festivities, especially at the moment with the carnival, I could not miss an article on beer favorite of the Belgians. Personally, I am not a big fan of beer, if I drink one it is rare and I prefer the beers a little sweet. My favorite is not really Belgian, it is the Desperados very fresh with a piece of lemon wedged in the neck in summer when it is very hot; o)

The Jupiler is a Belgian low-fermentation beer of the pils type. It was created and manufactured by the Piedbœuf brewery which became the Jupiler brewery, now A.B. InBev group, formerly InBev and Interbrew, in the village of Jupille-sur-Meuse, a suburb of Liège from which it derives its name.

The Jupiler is a relatively young beer: it was launched by Piedboeuf in 1966 under the name of Jupiler 5; 5 was a reference to the percentage of alcohol and this beer included five ingredients. It has become the leader in the Belgian pils and beers market. The name Jupiler 5 has been dropped for the current name Jupiler.

This beer was positioned in its early years as a beer of men through its advertising campaigns "Men know why" and then as a beer related to the world of sport. Recently, more women's campaigns have been published.

In May 2011, Jupiler released a soda, "Jupiler Force", based on brewing water and flavored with various citrus fruits. This soda is brewed with hops but is not a beer. It is manufactured without sweeteners, preservatives or dyes. His slogan is: "Finally. A refreshing brewed soda for men. "

Jupiler has also given its name to the Jupiler Pro League, the Belgian football championship, as well as to the Jupiler League, the Netherlands D2 football championship.

The name Jupiler refers to the village of Jupille. It was in this village near Liège that the Piedboeuf brewery was founded in 1853. The brewery will launch in 1966 the "Jupiler 5" pils. This beer does not take long to conquer a place of choice on the Belgian market.

Jupiler has been the belgian beer brand for decades. One in three Belgians prefers Jupiler and this proportion is even greater in the 18-35 age group.

If you are visiting Belgium and you enjoy beer, you can visit the Jupiler Brewery.

The Jupiler logo represents a bull, and legend has it that for a beer to be considered well served by the bartender, the beer's foam must arrive at the testicles of the animal ;o)

How to serve a beer?

Serving a good beer optimizes all its flavors.

Before serving, cool your beer to a certain temperature depending on the beer, for example, thirst-quenching beers such as white, gueuze, fruity or blondes are usually served between 4 ° and 6 ° C. As for tasting beers like the Trappists are serving between 6 ° and 10 ° C. Anyway, just refer to the directions on the beer label.

To have a perfect foam collar that does not fall, it is necessary that the glass is well defatted and that there is no fingerprint on it.

Just before serving the beer, it is necessary to pass the glass under cold water. This gesture, too often forgotten, refreshes the glass and remove any residues.

Serve your beer slowly to form a rich foam neck, tilting your glass at 45 °. And straighten it as and when the service.
For the visual aspect, it is preferable to leave about 1 cm in the bottle to avoid pouring the yeast deposit.

I just have to wish you a nice cold beer, especially if you live in a hot country. At the moment in Belgium, it is rather hot wine or hot chocolate.

Sort:

Never underestimate how much assistance, how much satisfaction, how much comfort, how much soul and transcendence there might be in a well-made taco and a cold bottle of beer.

Great notes about serving beer at the right temperature in a clean glass with a nice amount of head/foam.

It's not as much of a problem in continental Europe but in the US and the UK I would add don't serve beer in a shaker pint glass.

And now my rant ...

AB-InBev makes this beer. Aftrer I joined Steemit, I quickly realized that there are a lot of beer enthusiasts who are unaware of the negative effects that AB-InBev and other, but not all, corporate brewers have on small independent brewers.

AB-InBev is destructive to the traditional/craft beer scene in Belgium as well as the United States and the rest of the world. Do you remember when Hoegaarden was a traditional witbeir with a lot of flavor? Sure, AB-InBev "saved" the brewery but at what cost? It's now a watered down version of the original and now with terrible artificial fruit flavors. Leffe? Also InBev. And it purposefully confuses consumers into thinking it is a small traditional Abbey brewery when it's not.

I absolutely love Belgian-style beers but Jupiler, in my mind, is the antithesis of the wonderful, amazing beers that small independent Belgian brewers make.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just have this desire to educate the world about the "horrors" of AB-InBev, MillerCoors, Kirin, and Heineken.

I have seen some breweries still flourish and deliver some goodies despite a buyout, but for the most part I agree. Another Belgian beer, Stella Artois, used to be one of my favorite beers. After the buyout, Idk..the same flavor just is not there anymore.

It's not just the flavors of the beer, it's also the unfair, predatory business practices, pushing other brands out of stores, illegal kickbacks, and lobbying for unfair laws to prevent smaller, independent brewers from being successful.

I agree. While I have seen Goose Island bought out but continue to provide some of the finest BA stouts, I know a lot of brewers victimized by Big Beer practices. Increased resources is a competitive advantage that is inherent with a capitalist infrastructure, but when money is being used to stall and prevent the success of smaller breweries, I think it works against the overall progress of beer. Every company should just focus on making their product the best and building their own business instead of trying to squash others down. After all, people want the best beer, and getting rid of the best brewers to be competitive can really just hurt everyone in the long run.

Preach! 🙌🍻
