I have not talked about beer yet but since I am Belgian and this drink is present in all parties and festivities, especially at the moment with the carnival, I could not miss an article on beer favorite of the Belgians. Personally, I am not a big fan of beer, if I drink one it is rare and I prefer the beers a little sweet. My favorite is not really Belgian, it is the Desperados very fresh with a piece of lemon wedged in the neck in summer when it is very hot; o)

The Jupiler is a Belgian low-fermentation beer of the pils type. It was created and manufactured by the Piedbœuf brewery which became the Jupiler brewery, now A.B. InBev group, formerly InBev and Interbrew, in the village of Jupille-sur-Meuse, a suburb of Liège from which it derives its name.

The Jupiler is a relatively young beer: it was launched by Piedboeuf in 1966 under the name of Jupiler 5; 5 was a reference to the percentage of alcohol and this beer included five ingredients. It has become the leader in the Belgian pils and beers market. The name Jupiler 5 has been dropped for the current name Jupiler.

This beer was positioned in its early years as a beer of men through its advertising campaigns "Men know why" and then as a beer related to the world of sport. Recently, more women's campaigns have been published.

In May 2011, Jupiler released a soda, "Jupiler Force", based on brewing water and flavored with various citrus fruits. This soda is brewed with hops but is not a beer. It is manufactured without sweeteners, preservatives or dyes. His slogan is: "Finally. A refreshing brewed soda for men. "

Jupiler has also given its name to the Jupiler Pro League, the Belgian football championship, as well as to the Jupiler League, the Netherlands D2 football championship.

The name Jupiler refers to the village of Jupille. It was in this village near Liège that the Piedboeuf brewery was founded in 1853. The brewery will launch in 1966 the "Jupiler 5" pils. This beer does not take long to conquer a place of choice on the Belgian market.

How to serve a beer?

Serving a good beer optimizes all its flavors.

Before serving, cool your beer to a certain temperature depending on the beer, for example, thirst-quenching beers such as white, gueuze, fruity or blondes are usually served between 4 ° and 6 ° C. As for tasting beers like the Trappists are serving between 6 ° and 10 ° C. Anyway, just refer to the directions on the beer label.

Just before serving the beer, it is necessary to pass the glass under cold water. This gesture, too often forgotten, refreshes the glass and remove any residues.

Serve your beer slowly to form a rich foam neck, tilting your glass at 45 °. And straighten it as and when the service.
For the visual aspect, it is preferable to leave about 1 cm in the bottle to avoid pouring the yeast deposit.
