This is a deeply Christian sentiment, turn the other cheek, we don't win "their" way, we don't even aim to "win", we seek the greater good for those around us, including our enemy, even if they betray us, or offend us.

We overcome those who offend us, as Jesus overcame, by pouring ourselves out despite their fury, and condemnation.
