FRUSTRATIONS
I have been busy today running around orders for the festive season. Factories close from the 14th December so planning is essential. They then reopen mid January so there is a period that if you run out you are screwed.
I have done some calculations and worked out all the raw materials required and the orders have been placed. The problem is and a good problem ,a customer who I have been chasing for 18 months wants to now chat and move their business to me.
I am not complaining but highly frustrated as it throws everything out the window. They are just so big there is just enough time to organise the raw material required ,if they hurry up. Having a time limit and leaving it to the last minute is not ideal. My concern is that is it has taken 18 months to get here and in a matter of weeks, I will have to say no to any particular order as the raw materials will be unavailable.
It is not a normal account and probably ranks as the biggest in the country for my particular line so I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. The order i placed last week for all f our current clients wouldn't cover this one on it's own.
I will just have to be open and honest with them that they must move their backsides as I won't sacrifice the other businesses for them. I just find it totally frustrating that they wait until the season rush to decide about changing. It will save them a fortune but I have been telling them that for 18 months.
Obviously some people have more money than sense and something has happened form above to sort it out finally. This particular company has thrown millions away in the last year or so and with the recession we are currently experiencing it is now affecting everyone.

Too much red tape involved I’d say. And the top brass probably see it as a minute decision even though it saves money and it is pushed down the agenda until it becomes the biggest problem
They are on a huge cost cutting exercise and it is sitting under their bloody noses. Have always been good at this stuff, finding where the wasted expenses are.
Well it is still a blessing for you, albeit a stressful one, so congratulations and try to focus on the bright side.
That said, I hope this one doesn't affect your relationship with more loyal customers
Maybe they are big enough that they are use to everyone else just "making it work" no matter what.
