What kinds of posts have the best payout on Steemit?

in #busy6 years ago

In my two years on Steemit, I've encountered multiple types of people.

I've seen people that post videos.

I've seen people that post fiction stories.

Mostly I've seen people blog about things like food, friends, and various activities in their daily lives.

Some posts do much better than others. Part of this is definitely due to engagement, conversations on Discord, and things that involve actual interaction.

It is mostly NOT about quality posts.

Surprise. Surprise.

However, some posts definitely do better than others, and I'm not entirely certain that those posts are random in their ability to get a high upvote even if they aren't the best quality.

So what kinds of posts get better upvotes?

Based on my experience, I would say this....

1 - Posts about Steemit.

Everyone wants to read and comment on what's going on with their platform. It may seem like the people making these posts are very concerned about our platform, and they probably are.

However, just making the post about Steemit seems to immediately get you a higher payout then making one about the curtains in your bedroom.

2 - Mainstream news.

Making a post about something current event related is likely to get you some traction.

Right now I would say it's something like Kavanaugh, or maybe even that police officer that broke into that guy's apartment and killed him. Those are the kind of things that people want to talk about, and read about.

3 - Videos of any kind using Dtube.

Maybe it's because you occasionally get a big upvote from Dtube, but videos tend to do much better than stories. You would think that would be opposite since this is mostly a blogging site at the moment.

4 - Anything related to a Dapp.

People are curious to read about the Dapps.... and many of these various Dapps already have their own communities.

Actifit, Steemhunt, Dsound.

By posting something related to a Dapp, or from that very Dapp itself, you are likely to get some upvotes from the people that are into that Dapp.

I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that I left out, but I can also tell you what doesn't do very well.

Fiction.

It makes sense. It's difficult to read fiction on here. Why would you read fiction on here when you can just read an actual boo?

Reading an actual book that's been published ensures that you are definitely getting high quality. Reading something on Steemit could go either way.

That is my two cents for the day.

I guess you can take it or leave it.

Sort:

i have the policy to post whatever i like :P literally it can be anything but there are 2 conditions i set to myself. 1) to be a thing that i am interested with 2) to write at least 2 paragraphs :P (i don't like to just post a picture and that's it)

The dapps for me are tricky because although some of them upvotes your posts or give you some audience that upvote them, they keep a % from the payouts so you have to add that into account too and check whether you actually earn more or less that way

As the community grows I think it will be important to think about variety. I have been trying to expand beyond my typical posts while remaining within the realm of what I truly know to ensure that I can engage actively. I have grown passionate about my journey here on Steem and have tried to convey it to help others on their own journey. I love talking about DApps as well as many provide unique opportunities for us in the ecosystem!

Wouldn't you know it ??? Most of my blogs are about my curtains ! LOL !!

I am so new that between my silly art and things around my house, with a few contributions to various challenges, that about sums me up to this point.

I had thought that I would grow and change a bit as time went on, but there hasn't been that much time for me yet.

It may be because I am small, but I don't read a lot of platform blogs. I have a few, if it was titled in a way that I thought it was going to be about something that might be useful to me, but just reading about it in general, massively, is not attractive to me.

I'm sure given time I will look at things differently, but I'm still on the learning curve, so I can't soak in nor put out everything.

I highly recommend joining every contest you can. Get your name out there. You should be using a comment to post ratio of 80 / 20. Even more than that really.

Commenting all day long. I would also get a Discord name, which is really easy to do, and check out a couple of the chat rooms. It is time consuming, make no mistake. Most of the people that are high rated in here spend literally their entire days talking to people.

I am over on discord barely, but there. I looked for you, but it never found you in the search by your name and Denise looked too (dswigle), because I thought it was user error. LOL ! ... but no luck. Anyway, I have access to it, but have not been on it much and when I have been, I haven't seen much talking going on.

Since I work Monday through Friday, I can't be on all day, every day. I'm regulated to evenings and weekends. Even then, I still have to take care of other things .... and sleep ! ha ha.... so I don't have 24/7 to invest.

I know what you mean. I work 7 days a week at my restaurant job. However, when I get home I'm usually checking things here and there, and doing various blogging type activities.
