Climbing up the @partiko Leaderboards!

Having the curse (or blessing) of being a numbers person, I always look to track my progress over time when provided the opportunity. At the end of November, I was enticed by the @partiko phase one delegation plan which included some great benefits. I had been searching for a mobile alternative to interact with Steem as I had been struggling using the browser on my phone since I started. Given the amount I travel and the little I really use my computers other than to work, I really needed something that was nimble and had the features of the full Steem experience without having to often zoom to get the best content while on the move. I had heard of @partiko from someone I onboarded and continue to see the updates they were pushing very often to users. I then saw during SteemFest 3 the great presentation on how they intend to launch messaging through the application. This immediately sold me on them not only being up to speed with the blockchain but also developing proactively for features that will enhance the social experience over time.

Once I saw that the delegation plan came out, I immediately signed up as I knew that the benefits would be very attractive for more to delegate. Given the limited opportunity, I knew that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to leverage the chance to switch over and be motivated to use it often and get off my insistence with Steemit. I immediately started to use it once I delegated and downloaded the app on my smartphone. As soon as I made my first upvote and posted my first comment, I knew that my Steemian life had changed. I have not looked back since and I would estimate that over 80% of my STEEM engagement now occurs through @partiko (not including @steemmonsters). I can no longer visualize using Steemit while on the move as the user experience is so much better with @partiko that I always feel connected to the ecosystem.

As I started exploring the application, I immediately saw the leaderboard and envisioned myself being on the list. However, the application being out for some time before I started made me think that the possibility of me being there was slim. However, I did know that being part of the first delegation group would provide some benefits over time. I didn’t much more attention until recently as I noticed how fast I was growing my @partiko points. For using the app, you get points for checking in daily in addition for posts, comments and upvotes you provide to the blockchain. This was “a match made in heaven” as I have continued my grind to being an active Steemian for a couple of months now. I continued to proudly be a part of the great Curation and Engagement League managed by @abh12345 and sponsored by @curie with great results as I have been able to remain on their leaderboard since joining in Summer of 2018. Their metrics track the top 25% of Steemians in terms of engagement on a weekly basis. As I continued, I recently saw how I was getting close to the top 20 on the list until it happened:

While it probably is not all related to engagement as users can spend these points for upvotes, I am still proud that my name is on the list and climbing! Being proud of my position may make me HODL @partiko points as I am always hesitant of letting go of things that I earn. It took me months to spend my first amount of STEEM to enlist in a community so imagine how long it will take for me to spend these points! As I work up the leaderboard (today I am already at 16), I continue to realize how engagement continues to be a fundamental factor in growing in the ecosystem. I recently ran into a somewhat controversial posting regarding fake comments and engagement and I think that definitions are always relative to expectation which make it tough to please everyone. However, I think that comments and engagement are not only great ways to create a following and make yourself visible (like Top 20 in the @partiko app), but are also a great way to motivate content creators to continue to share experiences throughout the ecosystem. I remember when my upvotes had no value so how would I let an author know that I appreciated his content other than dropping a comment. While I agree that the generic “great post” comment is not what I mean by engagement, a genuine presence on an author’s post can go a long way to motivate continued engagement. At the end of the day, this is a social experiment which requires engaged to create value.

I would like to thank @partiko for coming up with this great alternative to interact with the blockchain on a mobile platform. In addition, I would like to thanks them for being so active in the community to foster engagement as we not only spread the knowledge of @partiko for internal users but also demonstrate externally the alternatives of interfaces for the ecosystem. The example they provided with being proactive is when they opened the doors to the users of Tumblr that would fall victim to censorship. These are the great projects and advances that make me confident that @partiko will continue to develop into a top tier Dapp for the ecosystem as even demonstrated in State of the Dapps. I would forward to continuing using it to actively engage across the ecosystem.
