How did they let him drive after his medical history and a sudden drop on the ground?! That's crazy. What a scare. A few days ago a friend of mine suddenly got sweaty/hyperventilating/losing sight on the road :-/ Could have just as well gone wrong. I'm so glad your husband is fine and he has a device that will help him from now on. Wouldn't be surprized if that is going to improve a lot in terms of quality of life - my father in law got a minor heart procedure recently and says he feels 20 years younger because of it.
