I last reported the numbers in a post that covered through April 30th, 2019.

Each month I monitor what is going on with new accounts and the amount of MVests in each category. I do this to determine what trends are taking place.

Now that we are at end of month, time to post the numbers again.

I want to thank @arcange for the work done each day compiling these numbers and making the charts.

We have 3 months worth of data for analysis purposes to see how the 90 trend might be.

The first chart is from August of 2017, the month I started on Steem. It is placed here to provide some contrast to see how things are changing over a longer period of time.

Here is the breakdown.

To start: The system is working as designed.

The Whales are losing power.

There are now 11,765 accounts who qualify as either Minnow or higher. It was only a few months back when the total accounts above the approximate 500 SP (level to be a Minnow) was under 10K.

On March 31, 2019, the Whales and Orcas had 300,984 MVests (75.94% of the total). On April 30, 2019, 296,454 MVests (75.28% of the total)...a decrease of .87%. On May 31, 2019, 296,976 (75.11% of the total)...a decrease of .23%.

The Dolphins and Orcas were the big movers. It was a flat month for the Minnows and Red Fish. Whales continued to lose power in both total of MVests and percentage of the stake.

Last month was the first in a long time that the total MVest for Whales and Orcas was under 300K. This month is remained there. We are also moving towards those two accounts controlling less than 75% of the stake. While this is still tilted heavily in their favor, it does show a radical transition from when I joined Steem.

You will also notice a change in the charts that @arcange did. There is no longer a separate account for Inactives.

Well over the 10k minnow mark is indeed good to see, even if that segment fell off the last month.

I remember well when that initiative began and was well under 250SP and thought it seemed almost unattainable to reach minnowhood. After I just now powered up 1.5sp from placing in the top of the engagement league (boasting) 😉 I'm now at over 375 SP and starting to not see just slow and steady growth but a bit of a boost in my weekly percentages.

If anyone is relatively new or possibly feeling stagnant and uninspired definitely join up the league tables offered by @paulag and @abh12345 this has been a very positive experience for me.

Despite some dramatic chats concerning EIP and steem politics I'm seeing good things on the horizon. I don't generally do the cheerleader thing here, but Steem On!

The one time I'm not out here being a punk and you catch me right after the act of betrayal ! I laughed actually out loud when I read that and my wife says "you're spending too much time with that funny money fight club"

Now I have the stats to prove that she is absolutely correct lol

It will be really interesting to see if there is any great change in the dynamic when the whales shares drop below 50% for the first time.

So its not bad the price is low. So all whales leave there was here for a quick $ :)

Hope many more minnow will grow into baby orca or dolphins.

By design, long term participant in DPoS social network will always do better.
